My tape is stuck inside and i want to eject
Locate any screws that hold the top in place. carefully slide the top off.
find the loading motor. it should have a worm gear on it. turn the gear and after a while the tape should come out. is this only in one vcr in the duel deck?

Rio HT2030 disc loader will
I have had the same problem. There is a rubber ban that acts as a drive belt to open and close the disc loader. i took the cover off and then the disc loader cover off to expose the bubber ban. Then i replaced it using two rubber bans from my daughter's braces and reassembled. Works great again.

Try to transfer the tracks from the explorer.
1 Connect the Rio Carbon to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
2 Double-click My Computer on the Windows Desktop or in the Start Menu.
3 Locate MP3 or WMA audio files on the computer.
4 Highlight files and/or folders to transfer to the Rio Carbon.
5 Click Edit.
6 Click Copy.
7 Double-click My Computer on the Windows Desktop or in the Start Menu to open another window.
8 In the new window, locate the Rio Carbon (X:) icon that is associated with the Rio Carbon. (X equals the drive
letter assigned to the Rio Carbon.)

Rio Carbon upgrade problems
Sorry dude, with the hard drive clicking you are probably looking at a toasted drive or controller chip. When you get the 'upgrader' screen the device cannot get information from the drive. Your best bet is to remove the drive and try it in another device such as a digital camera or a PDA with a slot. The average life of these devices seems to be about 2 months, with a (very) few people eeking out a year or so. Most of the time the volume control breaks, or cycles, or the drive interface craps out ('upgrader' screen)
"RESTARTING"
I encountered the same issue with my Nitrus. After following instructions to upgrade firmware, I had the "restarting" message on screen. I then took the unit apart once again. I could hear the drive making a noise. I tapped on the back of the drive with a screwdriver and the player started working properly.
