My riccar 1900 won't thread; needle to bobbin
First make sure the bobbin-winding spindle (located on top of your machine) has been pushed back to the left for sewing.
If it is not in the correct position, the needle will not go down and pick-up your bobbin thread.
Next make sure your needle is inserted correctly, with the flat side facing back.
Also, make sure your bobbin is in correctly
the upper tension disks of your machine are threaded correctly.
Make sure the presser foot is up when seating the thread through the upper tension.
Turn the handwheel towards you only and hold the needle thread lightly.
If this doesn't help solve your problem, the machine may have a timing problem.
Why riccar a303 sewing machine just stop running?
Difficult to advise. Can you operate it manually by turning the handwheel clockwise? Does the motor make noise when you step on the foot control but the needle does not move?
It appears to be a mechanical machine. If so, it could need a good cleaning and oiling. That is probably a good place to start. (Consult your owner's manual and use ONLY fresh good quality sewing machine oil.) Could be a multiple of other things, ie loose/broken belt, foot control failure, carbon brushes or capacitor, electrical problem, motor problem... Probably best to take it in for service.

The beater brush will no longer drive under a load on short pile carpet
Have you tried changing the height adjustment? There should be a knob or lever that allows you to adjust the height of the beater brush to accommodate different carpet lengths. Even with a new belt, the brush will not spin if the height is too low. Try adjusting it all the way up, then while it is running, adjust it down until there is some resistance. The beater brush should just barely scrape the top of your carpet.

Machine won't turn on, light won't turn on

Have you used a voltmeter to make absolutely sure that the unit is receiving electricity? Highly unlikely that BOTH the lamp and the motor will go bad at same time. Need to carefully trace the electricity down because there has to be some junction that is stopping everything.

Riccar 515, when making buttonholes, it will not zig zag in reverse
take the bobbin out and make sure it's not warped
make sure it's wound correctly
make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case and that the bobbin case is inserted correctly, if it's a side or front loading machine
also could be a problem with the gear, they might be damaged or broken,, if you keep having the problem, have the machine checked
