I have a Riccar 500FA. The upper thread will not pick up the bobbin thread. I have oiled, cleaned, checked the needle installation, the bobbin installation and the needle is brand new.

needle/hook timing needs adjustment accredited service agent can fix or any sewing machine service shop should be able to do the job

Needle hits bobbin casing.

Don't know if you have a manual or not. You can read the manual from the link below. I would look for the bobbin area in the manual. There should be a section showing the bobbin area for cleaning and oiling. It may as simple as removing and reassembling the bobbin case. It could be the timing and would require a service repair technician. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/545699/Riccar-9600.html

I have a Riccar 706. I can't get the upper thread to pick up the Bobbin thread. What do I need to do?

Install a brand new needle (confirm it is installed facing the correct direction). If it still doesn't pick up the bobbin thread, the machine is probably out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

I have bought new needles for my Riccar overlocker now the stitching is loopy and messy

Verify you are using the correct needles for your machine. Some needles vary by a fraction of an inch but will make a big difference in serging success. Remove all the threads from the machine. (Always cut the threads below the spools, raise the presser foot, and pull the threads DOWN through the needles--Never pull up!) ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading. Be sure to always thread each thread in the proper order--threading out of order will usually fail. Rethread from the beginning and give each thread an extra little tug when threading the tension disk. If a thread breaks, it is usually less frustrating in the end to remove all the threads and rethread from the beginning. Trying to rethread a broken thread will most likely cause problems.

On rmy riccar sewing machine..After I sew a seam the top stitch seems fine, but underneath the thread is all bunched up in a wad.

increase the needle thread tension the term is bird nesting and is caused because the needle thread is not pulling the bobbin thread up
