On the barrel there should be a letter code.
Remingtons manufactured between 1921 and 1972 have a code located on the left side of the barrel near the frame that identifies the year and month of manufacture. The following letters correspond to the months of the year, for example B=January, L= February and so on:

Battery will not charge on remington hair trimmer hc5550.
You can, but you need some experience with soldering.Look for the other answers here in this forum, there are some descriptions on how to open the device. In short: you have to remove the power button (be careful not to destroy it), then slide off the middle plastic part, remove a screw, then take off the upper main plastic housing, remove another two screws and take out the inner device which holds the motor and batteries. The old batteries can be replaced by 2 AA-size eneloops.
What type of oil do I use?
well if its an electric powered model as the title says it is , then the only oil it should have is Bar/chain oil there should be a little cap just forward to left of the trigger this should be kept full of bar/chain oil for its use

I have a shell stuck
Simple take a wood screw and insert it in the spent shell. Gently apply downward pressure while turning the screw a partial thread in. Then use a pair of needle nose pliers to pull it out using the 476's casing as a leverage point. Just did this and worked well. Allen key and pocket knife ideas did not work as the shell is too tight in the chamber.
