Operates 5 seconds then burner goes off
Im not sure how to adjust the nozzle pressure, but mine was not getting enough pressure because the air filter had plugged up and had bad fuel lines. I couldn't buy a new air filter so I got a cheapo off brand one from the hardware and cut it to fit. Got good pressure and had no problems since.
How to bypass photocell
It would be very unwise to bypass or remove the photocell on your heater, it is there as a safety control, if the heater doesn't ignite or while running unattended runs out of fuel, it will stop. Without that safety net it will just keep going, and the result could be disastrous. It would be better to cure the problem caused by the photocell, and then return to use with it the way the heater was intended. What was the problem??
My 115btu redi header won't run with the hood on
This sounds as if it is a problem with either a partial fuel blockage or a low air pump pressure. Low air pump pressure could be caused by cracked or damaged air line from compressor to burner head, or the plastic end that holds the air filters has a hair line crack, letting the pressure away. You may need to inspect thwe plastic end under a bright lame and flex it between youe fingers and thunbs to see the damage, look around the outside, across the middle and near the bolt holes and adjuster. Damage to the nozzle housing or the rubber nozzle seal , letting air into the fuel line and escaping, could also cause the problem. You need to inspect everything carefully.
Added gas to diesel multi fuel turbo heater
Your talking about 1/8 cup of gas, per gallon of diesel. I think it should be fine but it will run hotter than usual. You will need to keep an eye on the flame and after it warms up. If the flame continues to pass by the cone then you will need to drain between 1 to 2 gallons out and store it (You will need to use your best judgement). Fill the heater back up with new diesel and use. when you run out, add 1 gallon of the tainted diesel to 2 gallons of new diesel and repeat. You will need to pay attention to the performance and make your own determination. Please remember that these units are to be used in well ventilated areas. They produce a lot of carbon monoxide. Good luck., .

Torpedo heater wont stay lit.
Do you have the serial number or the manufacture date? There are some design changes and I would need to know the year of manufacture to assist accurately. Usually it is a relay or the thermocouple connection that will affect the unit staying lit.
Does the 170T use desil as well as kerosene
Yes diesel can be used in torpedo heaters, but you should only use #1 diesel or #1 fuel oil or #1 kerosene. #2 fuels are dirty and will crud up the heater faster. The other problem with diesel fuel is that it gels at very cold temperature. Anti-gel additives are available.
Can not get the bricks to light on my empire corcho
I have the same htr in Mich. & have worked on gas htrs.for many years.
Does the flame go out when you let go of the button to lite it?
If it does, then the thermocouple is bad.
If the flame stays on, but goes out when you turn the dial,
the gas regulator is bad.
Probably a little more expensive to buy new then to fix it.
