My rci6900f25 will not
hello jenn firstly this could be a number of faults its best to check ,when you press the ptt is it registering on the signal/power metre iff not then the problem lies with the final transistor and will need to be replaced ,iff it is registering the problem is with the mic ,check the wirering for shorts remove connector on the mic entering the radio these wires are very delecate and easily broken
turn mic gain up fully to test goodluck

WHEN U KEY UP IT WONT TALK
Do you have receive? If so you might have blew the voice chip. If you don't have receive or transmit you most likely blew those final transistors.

My tr966 has talkback hooked
Your gonna look in your radio by the transformer for a"d25" diode 25 is what is removed in this radio to add talkback. If you want to disable talkback you need to replace that diode as this radio is not stock with talkback. Someone removed that diode. Diodes only go in one way. Pay attention to the cathode marking on the board and on the diode ( --> ) no smaller than a 1N914 diode as a replacement.
Squeals when keyed up. Detecting talk back.
ITS JUST NOT THE TURNER MIC IT HAPPENS WITH ALL BASE MICS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2995DX WITH A ASTATIC D-104 & 1104-C AND ALSO ANY TURNER I HAVE USED BUT I CAN RUN A ASTATIC MOBILE D-104M6B OR RED DEVIL AND NO SQUEAL HAVE YOU TRIED GROUNDING THE CASE OF THE RADIO IT IS RF FEED BACK SQUEAL SO MY SUGGESTION TO YOU IS TO RUN A 48 COPPER GROUND ROD INTO THE GROUND AND RUN A NICE GROUND WIRE TO THE BACK OR THE CHASIS OF THE RADIO AND IF YOU ARE USING ANY EXTERNAL AMPLIFIERS ALSO GROUND THEM AND YOUR SQUEAL WILL BE ILLMINATED

Is it possible to convert
Note - You must have an Armature License to legally perform this conversion.
1.
Remove bottom cover from radio.
2.
On the main PCB, locate J33. (See diagram above)
3.
Locate wires on pins marked "P5" (yellow) & "P6" (grey).
4.
Cut wire on "P5" (yellow) and install a SPST switch in line.
5.
Cut wire on "P6" (grey) and install a SPST switch in line.
NOTE:
By using two of the function switches available on the radio will eliminate the need for two new switches to be installed and mounted.

I need to remove the wiper motor and replace it.
The wiper motor transition is not so hard to replace. First remove the wiper blades. Lift the hood to your truck. Towards the windshield their is a plate that covers the entire assembly. Remover the screws and or the push pins and remove the cover. Looking down in there you will see the arms hooked to the transition via a ball stud and socket. Take a pair of long nose needle nose pliers (don't use a screwdriver as it may bend the arm.) and pop the arm off at that point. Don't remove the nut on the wiper motor stud. Your motor is right there. Remove the four mounting bolts. Remove the connector. And wiggle it out. Let me know if this helps you.

I have to keep my rf=gain turned all the way down
The RF limits the signal strength you radio receives. After setting the RF to limit excessive signals, then set your squelch up until the noise is gone. There are some areas which have high RF background noise so adjustments are made often while driving around. Use the ANL (automatic noise limiter) and other features also to control the noise.

2950 RCI WONT TURN ON ONLY A BACKGROUND LIGHT
You either have a bad LCD display OR the connection for the LCD display is loose/off. Its impossible to tell what channel you are on with a 2950 without the screen working, but when you turn the channel knob do you hear any other cb transmitting on ANY channel?? This is a tough one!! I really need some more info on the radio.
Open the case and look at the area that the display is in (front of radio). Slightly wiggle all of the little plugs in that area. If you see the LCD screen come on or flash then you know where your problem lies. If not, then you're probably looking at buying a LCD display for the radio.
Good luck.
