One of the clips which hold door close broke. thus, machine won't operate.
Does the door fully closing operate a safety switch? If so you might be able to get round this by clamping the door shut with(eg)a belt. Not the most elegant of solutions but it might work. I searched online and got a number of hits, one of which said that spares are not available. Not very encouraging! Try contacting manufacturer directly.
It is very noisy
if it is noisy, you have to open the shredder and check the gears if still ok.
if they are worn up they will make the noise
On, Fwd, Rvs button has stopped working on my Shredmaster 75X. How do I fix this?
First check the power point is still working - plug in another appliance, like a table lamp. If OK check the fuse in the shredder cable plug.
The commonest reason for a shredder stopping is a paper jam, or running the shredder for too long. By 'too long', many shredders will cut-out after 5 minutes continuous working, and the sensor may take 15 minutes to cool down! Read the manual.
It maybe that the shredder cutters are jammed. Unplug from mains, and lift off top and place upside down. Use a small screwdriver and/or long nosed pliers to poke at any compressed paper wrapped around the blades - can take a while.
How to open shredder when screews are removed
Looking at the label on the bottom, peel off the left side of the label about one inch and you will find a hidden Philips screw just like the other 6 on the bottom and the parts separate easily.
The shredder doesn't automatically shred anymore.
Check the Power
Ensure that the shredder top is firmly placed in the shredder basket if the unit will not operate. If the top is not in place the feeder will not work and accept any paper. Make sure it is firmly plugged into the wall outlet and that the outlet is active.
Rest the Shredder
Let the shredder cool down if the shredder has been running continuously for a long time. It may have overheated and needs to be left in the off position for at least 30 minutes to reset. Verify the basket is empty or not too full as that will cause the shredder to deactivate.
Clear Paper Jam
Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear.
Auto Mode Not Working
Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.
Quit turning
Check the breaker, otherwise it may be a faulty unit.
Shredder is squeaking
You would need to lubricate the unit by running through oiled paper or by spraying oil directly into the feed opening and then running unit in reverse for at least 2 minutes
Good luck
GBC #SC32 auto stop not functioning
take the shredding portion of the shredder off and check in its teeth (while unplugged of course) to check that there are no errant pieces of paper or plastic in the device. You may even want to try and blow out any possible paper stuck inside with some canned air or something.
The "Bin Full" indicator light
There is a sensor in the bin area of the machine that is faulty. If you have cleaned the bin area completely and still have that problem then the sensor is bad and will have to be replaced. Look on the manufacturer website for the replacement part.
The shredder has begun to
Hi there,
Cross-cut shredders require monthly oiling of the cutting cylinders to maintain proper operation. Failure to oil the blades regularly could result in excessive noise during operation. See oiling instructions below.
Oiling Your Shredder's Cutting Blades
To keep your shredder in top condition, the cutting blades need to be oiled every so often (for frequency, please refer to your owner's manual). We recommend using Powershred® Lubricant or a vegetable-based oil (such as corn or canola) in a non-aerosol container with an extension nozzle.
Caution: Never use flammable synthetic oil, petroleum-based, or aerosol lubricants to oil the cutting blades. Some agents may combust, causing serious injury. NEVER USE WD40.
- Depress and hold the reverse button down.
- Put the tip of the oil bottle in the paper entry and make one or two sweeps the length of the entry while squeezing the oil bottle.
- Move the power switch to Auto (I) position, or depress the manual forward button (depending on model of shredder) and allow the blades to run at least three seconds.
- Move the power switch to Reverse (R) position and allow it to run for at least three seconds.
- Repeat steps three and four above at least three times.
Hope this helps!
9502 is jammed and does
Try to run the reserve 1st and then wait for 5-10 minutes to cool down and try to shred again.
Make sure you do not exceed allowed number of papers for shredding to avoid paper jams.
