I tried the DIY service and repair manuals from a website and it actually helped me repair transmission problem in my ford explorer. it wont move forward or reverse, engine is good both solenoids for forward and reverse work. You must do a factory hard reset to overcome this problem of a lost/forgotten pattern.

Disconnect the power to the unit; perhaps pulling the radio fuse out - in the fusebox. Then put the fuse back in because you've got to reset the error.
