Reset the printer to factory

I'm guessing the carrier solvent for the ink has evaporated. (Ribbon is old and dried out - even the new one) In the past, i have sprayed WD40 on unspooled ribbons and rewound them to bring ribbons back to life but that can be messy with spotty results. Suggest you buy direct fro Printronix.....

I've seen a very similar problem with the L5000 series printer. It turned to be that the problem was with HP jetdirect that the customer used instead of the printronix printnet. Several jetdirect were used and all cause a similar problem. When the printronix printnet was used everything worked fine

It is usually the printer manufacturer that writes the driver for their product. Windows will often include support for some of the more popular models of printers but if it is not supported, you have to contact the printer company. Drivers Printronix

I'm having some issues figuring out exactly what problem you are describing, but I think you have a page length issue. You can change that under emulation, page format.

in some printer there is like security precautions that limits the numbers of copies. try to find it through your user manual.

There is not a head calibration for this printer. There is a phasing adjustment if your print looks "shaky" or to adjust the gap you use the 2 3/32" allen screws on either side of the platen bar.With the printer powered on, press the “ONLINE” key to place the printer offline. The LCD should display “OFFLINE/CONFIG. CONTROL”. On the control panel, press the arrow up and arrow down keys at the same time to unlock the enter key. “ENTER SWITCH UNLOCKED” briefly displays.Press the arrow left key. “OFFLINE/DIAGNOSTICS” displays.Press the arrow down key. “DIAGNOSTICS/Printer Tests” displays.Press the arrow down key. “Printer Tests/Shift Recycle” displays.Press the arrow left key until “Printer Tests/Phase Printer” displays.Press “ENTER”. There are two styles of P7000 a spool ribbon style and a cartridge ribbon style. You are getting a barcode error then your printer is looking for a ribbon spool not a ribbon cartridge. Most calibrations have to be performed onsite by logging in as the CSE (Customer Service Engineer) or the Administrator. There are several simple calibrations that can be performed by a user but most need you to log in.

Based on your error you could have a P7000 or a P8000, Either way it is normally the main logic, but there are 2 for each machine. The firmware for this printer is not available for download via the web as there are hundreds of different types. If you detail the reason you need it (ie error code) I may be able to help.

Hello, my name is Steve. Try this first....unplug the printer from the wall socket, wait 30 seconds, and then plug back in. If printer does not come on, re initialize power at power button on console. The manor I explained to you is how to clear error message out of the memory. If this does not clear error message, ,If you can remove ink cartridge from printer then repeat the previous sequence. Prior to you re=pluging in power, make sure ink access door is closed. Turn on printer and follow menu instructions. If you still have error code, it can be a faulty chip on ink cartridge, or a bad carriage.... Hope this helps,Steve

It is supposed to do that while the ribbon runs and it scans the barcode.

That sounds like a paper path drive system not working properly. Make sure all paper/debris is cleared from the paper path, restart the printer and see if it has the same error. It's possible the sensor is damaged or malfunctioning. It would need to be serviced or replaced at that point. Good Luck!

Your Main Board (called a CMX) has failed. You can google "PRINTRONIX 157450-991 PWB,CMX,V 5.5 40MHZ,EXCHANGE,P5000 " For the part, but the part will require software either pre-loaded or you will have to get the file to load, ask about that before you purchase this or it will not work when you get it.
