I have a porter cable brad nailer that doesnt fire , it only hisses air when trigger is depressed. not fire, hiss of air when trigger is depressed it is a fn250c 16ga finish nailer

Try lubing the head valve orings with white grease instead of oil. The issue is caused when the head valve orings do not seal perfectly. Lube and retest with no more than 100 psi. Good luck with your repair

My porter cable 16 gauge finish nailer will not fire, I have opened it checked all inside components, it is not jammed, o rings in good condition, what more can I do, it has been used very little

I find that a nailer will fail to discharge due to lack of lubrication. Try lubing the head valve orings with white grease instead of oil. If no joy, remove the nails and remove the trigger so that you can fire the gun using just your finger. With trigger pin exposed, connect air hose with 100 psi. Very quickly depress the trigger pin all the way in. If the gun discharges most likely the safety foot and actual trigger is not pushing trigger pin all the way in. If the gun still does not discharge then most likely firing valve spring weak or valve defective. Good luck with your repair

John, Porter Cable 16 gauge brad nail gun. Model # FN250A. It's not feeding brads in to the chamber. It just fires once and the hammer stays. Please help.

This usually occurs when the check seal is out of place or bent driver or driver is too loose /too tight in the cylinder. The check band is usually the problem. Remove the cylinder and make sure that the black rubber band is covering a series of holes about mid section of the cylinder. If the band is in place, then problem is piston driver is bent , too loose /tight in the cylinder. Good luck with the repair.

When I pull trigger on my porter cable air gun bn200sb just air sound is made no compression click no pressure on trigger just air sound

This usually occurs when the head valve is worn, cracked or just needs lubrication. If the valve looks ok, then lube with white grease and test. If still no joy, make sure that the trigger firing pin is being pushed all the way in when attempting to fire. Make adjustment to safety foot. Good luck with the repair.

Porter cable regulator manifold is completely stuck. What gives?

This happens due to lack of lubrication. The air that runs thru the regulator is very moist and caused the internal parts of the regulator to rust. With no air pressure in the tank, take the regulator apart and lube the threads on the adjustment knob. Also remove the plug on the rear of the regulator and lube the plunger valve. You may find that the valve is stuck to the plug. Separate the valve from the nut and clean / lube. You may also find that the regulator is too far gone and needs to be replaced. Good luck with the repair.

I have a porter cable bn200sb braid nailer. It is cycling but not firing nails

This happens when the driver is not returning to top of the cylinder. Remove the driver and make sure that it is not slightly bent or not lubed enough and sticking to the cylinder. Also check the driver piston seal ring is not too loose. The driver should move easily within the cylinder but not so loose that it just drops to the bottom of the cylinder. Good luck with your repair.

New trigger valve leaked air and gun won’t fire. I have replaced the trigger valve twice and the problem is the same on both new valves. Porter cable FR350a.

I find that the trigger valves in these guns are reliable and that most problems with random fire is lack of lubrication and adjustment of the safety foot. Assuming that air does not leak when you connect air supply and leaks from trigger when attempting to fire. This indicates a lack of lubrication of the head valve. Remove the head valve and lube with white grease. Test the gun, of ok then you are done. If no joy, then check safety foot for adjustment. How to test if the safety foot is the problem. Remove the nails, remove the trigger leaving exposed the trigger firing pin. Adjust air supply to 100 psi and connect to gun. Assuming no leaks quickly depress the trigger valve pin all the way in. If the gun fires then the problem is with the safety foot and or the actual trigger is not pushing the firing pin all the way in when attempting to fire. Make adjustments accordingly. Good luck with your repair.

Hi I am trying to get a part for a porter cable nail gun. The part is a plastic unit that fits in their back of the gun. The part is a seat for the spring. I think it could be called the seat spring?

The part that you are looking for is most likely the "piston stop." this part can be found at Dewalt service centers as they own Porter Cable. Also some Ridgid nail guns use the exact same parts as Porter Cable. Good luck with your repair.

Wrench question

An air-powered impact wrench runs off of an air compressor with a tank – the air compressor should have at least a 10 gallon tank and be able to generate at least 3hp. Also, an impact wrench requires special sockets that are designed to withstand the high torque applied by the wrench.

I have a duel tank porter cable air compressor Will not build pressure past 50psi. when i open the drain valve light coat of moisture mixed with oil sprayed out. whats wrong? Thanks

Moisture and oil in small amount is normal with oil type compressors, a by product. If there is no air leak between the pump and tank, suspect worn piston rings, worn out faulty valves, loose pump head.

My porter cable cordless 20v drilldriver broke. It still runs but you put any kind of pressure on it then it just spins.can anyone please tell me what has happened to it.i have it all apert the gears in side look great but i just don't know whats going on here help...

I never use mine in the driver setting, always in drill mode. The reason is the clutch won't last and while the motor rotor revolves, the chuck head will not have torque and won't work no more.

Porter cable compressor will not come on soon enough

There should be a pressure switch that can be adjusted. You should be able to adjust high pressure shut off and at what pressure you want it to restart. If you give me a model number I can help further. Marty

My pancake compressor tries to start for a second, then quits before building pressure. Two year old barely used Porter Cable C2002 Psi 6 Gallon

You can try a new capacitor, or test your existing one.
Plug its power cord directly to an outlet, no extensions, power lost in inapropiate power cords is also a probable cause.
Does the motor turn by hand or is it sticking?
One thing is an electric problem, another would be mechanical.

How do i take apart a model 7812 porter cable vacuum to change brushes

The brushes are not replaceable - it is an entire motor assembly. 1) remove the 2 screws holding the top handle on 2) remove the 2 screws on the top of the housing (front either side of switch) 3) remove single screw holding cord hook (rear side of housing) 4) remove small torx screw in the shaker handle and remove the handle Flip over and using a screwdriver begin to pry the top cover off the housing (easiest to get the front side off first)
