Porter Air Tools & Compressors - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
My porter jumps over the nails in the gun and if u use it over your head nails fall out any ideas
Two part answer -
"jumps over the nails"
does your model have "select fire"?
If yes, check the switch and make sure there is no play or that it's not gunked up or anything like that. Some contact cleaner should help. Make sure it's on the right option for the way you are using the gun... "bump fire" is cool and fast, but risky.
If no, check to make sure that your available PSI is what your model needs.
"use it over your head and nails fall out"
are you using the right size/type for the gun you are using? Clipped? Round? Length may play a factor as well.
** without the model number, I'm answering in broad strokes because I can't give you a specific answer, sorry.
Why did it stop shooting brads. Shot 3 nails
It sounds like you have a bad seal or O-ring. without takeing it apart and looking at it myself i cant tell you witch one is bad.if take it apart look the orings and seals over reall well and se if you can find any distorted places on them and then you can find a breakdown of the nailer and buy the seals or O-rings on this site.http://www.ereplacementparts.com/

Why does nail gun not fire? Safety works ok. Gun loaded with 2 1/2" finish nails. Trigger safety switch is off. Slight hiss of air when trigger depressed but does not fire.
Hi Charles & Floyd:
Just a couple of thoughts that may assist.
First. This is an air tool so it is DANGEROUS! Treat it like a LOADED GUN.
Here's what I would do:
- Disconnect from air supply - point away from anything I don't want to hurt, and squeeze trigger. Press safety against block of wood and squeeze trigger.
- Now that I know it is safe, I would remove the nails from the magazine and check that none is stuck in breech mechanism.
- Check that feed spring/latch has released. Sometimes if loaded too full it can catch.
- Load some nails, check that they are the correct fit, and are sliding in the magazine.
- check air supply pressure. Should be between 80 and 100 psi.
- reconnect air supply and try again.
- If it does not fire it may be that the piston is not fully retracting. Since it is new, I would be returning it to the store where it was purchased.
Hope this helps.

Poulan chainsaw manual
suspect that the carburettor will be gummed up or corroded from the fuel drying out over the non use period.
