I can't get discussion mode to work on a
Discussion mode will work if your 8000 unit created the bridge call (that is called all other VC units). I think by default the software will allow a bridge call of up to 4 sessions (yourself is included). Also check to see what mode the other VC units are set to.

How do i conferance call on a polycom voicestation
The conference call feature is not part of the phone, but part of your telephone network. In some systems you press a sequence of keys to conference in another member such as flash #02 but it depends on what telephone network you use. Contact your IT admin and ask how to trigger the feature on that analog line.

I need a circuit diagram for a polycom viewstation
www.ivci.com/.../videoconferencing_polycom_viewstation_user_guide.pd
The microphone is called an "Electret Mic", this has a capacitance microphone, and an internal amplifier all in one package, These require a 5 - 12 Volts DC working voltage, and indeed go faulty, very easy, as you related. You can get these Microphones from Radio Shack or similar, they are very common. They have a positive and a negative, the case is always negative, the center cable is usually Positive, with the outside or Shield, and easy to re-solder. Check, the circuit, and make sure polarity is correct, and/or the cable isn't broken, or otherwise wrong. There are usually only two connections, so you shouldn't have too many problems troubleshooting, You should have 5 VDC on the lead that goes to the Mic, and the Mic, should have a resistance of about 1 - 2 K Ohms.
