Pitco fryer showing heat failure even when the pilot light is on?

Question moved from Misc HEAT FAILURE - This means the heating system has failed to respond, which can occur because a high temperature limit switch has been tripped and needs resetting. On gas deep fryers, "HEAT FAILURE" may display if the pilot fails to light or if the pilot flame is too weak as detected by the ignition module.

Pitco Frialator deep fryer boils over randomly. Is the high limit sensor or the thermostat the problem?

Trade Chef here. Dirty oil. Wet food. Adding too much at one time. Thermostat problems would burn food. Use a good quality thermometer IN the oil against what the dial says.

My pitco fryer SFSG18 will not light it has spark but does not seem to be getting gas when trying to light

Have you tried inspecting/replacing the thermocouple? This is the thing you heat when initially lighting the pilot. You may also have a stuck pressure valve, but that is unusual.

HELP PITCO FLAMES OUT BLOWS OUT PILOT LIGHT CAN WORK FOR 3 OR 4 TIMES SHUTS DOWN NICELY THEN WOOF SMALL BLOW BACK CAUSEING PILOT TO BLOW OUT THEN HAVE TO WAIT 10MINS TO RELIGHT

This is caused by a pressure problem. There should be an adjustment screw on the gas valve regulator. Also, make sure the pilot orifice has been removed and cleaned. There is also an adjustment screw on the gas valve for the flow of gas to the pilot.

Will the exhaust stack diameter cause rapid airflow to blow out the pilot?

The output flu should not impact this. What is impacting this is airflow from another source coming into the building. For example if a window is open on the windward side then airflow will rush in and exit through the flu. This could cause the problem. The other thing you should check is the gas pressure on the supply line. An indication that the gas pressure is too high is a gap between the end of the pilot jet and the base of the flame. Another concern is a venturi effect if the area between the hood and the fryer is too small.

Why do my pitco fryer have excess soot and keep making a loud popping sound.

Hi There. Check and ensure that the unit receives correct gas pressure during operation as written on nameplate; make sure that the unit also has the correct orifice size for the type of fuel currently used. Regards.

What wrong ,the thermostat off but the flame still on?

If you've changed the high limit and the thermostat, and you're certain that the wiring is correct, the gas valve is defective.

How do you replace the thermostat on a pitco fryer?

Drain the fryer. Cleaning the kettle will make things easier. Remove the thermostat knob and remove the two screws that hold the thermostat. Remove the two wires. Under the kettle you will see a double headed bolt with a tiny stainless tube running through them. Make sure that you do no confuse the one for the thermostat with the one for the high limit. Loosen or completely unscrew the small inner nut. Unscrew the large outer nut. Inside the kettle, locate the sensor bulb that corresponds to the thermostat. Remove the bracket and vertically straighten the sensor bulb. From under the kettle pull the sensor bulb and wire down and remove thermostat. Clean the fitting where you removed the bulb. Replace with new thermostat in reverse order. Avoid sharp bends in the sensor wire. Use Teflon tape on the large nut. The small nut is a compression fitting and does not need Teflon tape. Reclamp the sensor bulb and pull excess tubing from the kettle before tightening the small nut. Be careful not to cross thread the nuts. Do not over tighten the small nut. Refill the fryer and check for leaks.

Hi there, Im wondering how to get a new pilot light part for my pitco fryer. Or will it take other brand Pilot lights? Cheers

It is usually best to use the same parts for the fryer but most of the time they are what you would call a generic part that is used by many. If you have a pilot that will fit it should work. But like I said it is best for optimum performance to use OEM parts or same model parts.

Pilot lights only while depressing knob. Once knob is released to turn to on position the pilot goes out. Bad thermalpile?

It can take a up to a minute for the thermocouple to get hot enough to latch, the flame is to low, not in the position to hit the thermocouple or just bad. Some valves need to be turned to the ON position after lighting the pilot and waiting for the thermocouple to get hot. Sometimes the nut that holds the tube to the valve comes loose and requires being tightened but not to tight.

Pitco fryer pilot light wont stay lite

The thermocouple is bad or the pilot light is not adjusted to heat the thermocouple to the point where the safety shut off stays on.
