I have philips 39pfl5708/f7 model. Week ago same dark spot apear ob bottum left corner . now tv is total dark. No image at all. Any help

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board. Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; (Exclude the model number), in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

TV says format not supported for my fire stick. How do I get a permanent fix so it'll play every time? I have no idea how to upgrade my Philips TV version either. Please help this girl in NC

A little more info may be needed. Does your TV say this as soon as you plug in your firestick or does it say this when you are trying to play a video? If the first hold down rewind "<<" while holding top circle of remote (outer ring) for 15 seconds. It is likely that your TV resolution is out of spec for the Firestick (4k?) and you will need to enable "legacy" (older) resolution mode on the Firestick. If this does not work, there are you You Tube videos on enabling this mode for your Firestick. If the second, then you are trying to play a video with an unsupported video Codec, in which case you would need to find a supported video.

I have a Phillips HDD & DVD player/Recorder

Hi and welcome to the site,

Initially, postback with the model number.

BLOCKED as it implies indicates that the tray could not slide out; a common problem with some Philips models. Fix is to replace the DVD deck mechanism. Workaround is to always leave a disc inside.

Offhand, on most Philips models, there would be a manual eject slot at the bottom of the unit as shown in the representative image below.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

I have some movies (format *.avi) that I cannot

Hello Aristica,
There is No software download for the DVD plaer itself. Where you are going wrong is the Format ie avi that DVD player does not support it. You can Google free software to download which will allow you to convert you AVI file to something that the Dvd player will play:

DVD Video • VCD • SVCD • DVD-R • DVD-RW • DVD+R • DVD+RW • CD (Audio) • CD-R • CD-RW • Picture CD • Divx

so If you type in Google free Avi converter Then this will list several. You really want one that will convert to DIVX or VOB those will definately play on your DVD player.

I hope this has help you out. I tryed not to go into too much detail.

Cheers

"wrong region" on dvd player

According to the Wikipedia, "DVD region codes are a DRM technique designed to allow motion picture studios to control aspects of a release, including content, release date, and price, according to the region. DVD video discs may be encoded with a region code restricting the area of the world in which they can be played.

The DVD Copy Control Association in California, USA, requires that DVD player manufacturers incorporate the Regional Playback Control (RPC) system - according to the Australian government's anti-monopoly watchdog, the ACCC. It is therefore this US Association that is responsible for the RPC system that effectively divides the world into six regions for the purposes of controlling and manipulating distribution within the global DVD market.

There are six different official regions and two informal variations. DVD discs may use one code, a combination of codes (Multi-Region), most codes (Region 0) or every code/no codes (Region All). The commercial DVD player specification requires that a player to be sold in a given place not play discs encoded for a different region; however, region-free DVD players are also commercially available. In addition, many DVD players can be modified to be region-free, allowing playback of all discs."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code

A brand new DVD player allows you to play DVDs from different regions only five times, locking to the last region watched after these five times. So, you might have used your five region-change permissions and your DVD player is now locked to a different one from that of the DVD you want to watch (even thou you might have watched normally before).

There are some softwares like "DVD Region+CSS Free" from dvdidle.com or "CloneDVD 2" from Slysoft.com that allow you to back up your DVDs without the annoying region code. There are also sites like www.rpc1.org and www.dvdexploder.com that provide firmware or remote control codes to unlock the region of your DVD player.

Hope this information helps you understand why your DVD player is behaving like that and how to bypass that pitfall.
