Hi, from the manual: "If ever the hot water outlet opening should become blocked, you can remove the insert (flexible material) (fig. 20) and clean it separately. Do not forget to replace the insert before using the appliance again! " pic20-ycasxreas2wvf1fymebujylw-3-0.png

Stuck senseo maker

The locks shut due to a pressure build up in the pod chamber usually caused by a blocked filter in the centre of the pod holder.

The only way to open the unit is to releive the pressure. The pressure will normally reduce over time, the duration being determined by the pressure build up, condition of pod seals and the strength of the blockage.

A quick DIY solution: (small cable tie and screwdriver required)
Un plug the unit from the mains:
Remove the water container and prise open the rear snap fit panel of the unit carefully using a screwdriver to expose the internal workings, the overflow pipe at the top of the cover must be disconnected to gain enough access to work on the unit.
.The small metal boiler in the centre of the unit is used to heat the water for the machine, if the boiler is still hot allow it to cool down sufficiently for work to commence.
The exit pipe at the top of the boiler feeds directly to the pod chamber, if you squeeze this pipe you will feel that it is under pressure. Cut the cable tie connecting the pipe to the boiler (be careful, dont cut the pipe) and remove the pipe to release the pressure, a small ammount of water will be released during the procedure. The lid should open.
Reconnect the pipe to the boiler replace the cable tie, refit the rear cover making sure to push the overflow pipe back on before you snap the cover shut.
Remove the pod holder and clear the blockage blow through the holder in the reverse direction to ensure the filter is clear.
Replace the pod holder and pour a small amount of water on to it. The water should exit through the delivery spouts if the path is clear.
JOB Done.

Lid is sealed shut and water is not being drawn from resovoir

it sounds like the pod holder is clogged, it has only one small hole to let out water. open up the machine in the sink as it will spray due to the water pressure. try the other pod holder first. if it works check the other one by holding it up to the light. if it is clogged clean the first one by using a pin to clear the hole.

If no good,
Call senseo at 866-4-736-736 866-4-Senseo and describe the problem.if you have purchased or received it as a gift less than two years ago they will send a new one FREE.

Senseo coffee maker

Having dismantled and inspected several of this "strange machines" my conclusion is the following:

There is an oscillating-piston pump inside with in- and outlet valve.
It is energized by a microprocessor controlled circuit for a working time depending on the button selected (1 or 2 cups). The pressure and flow are nearly constant for a perfect working pump.
The pod holder restricts the thruput by its central hole. (E.g. you get now an extra pod-holder with a very small hole for expresso type)

So if you don't get enough coffee it may be that
1) the duty-cycle (timing) of the pump has changed.(not often occurring) no repair, you have to undergo electronic and programming work
2) the pump lost efficiency (cylinder of the pump clogged, piston not working with complete stroke, spring force fadening or just one of the 2 valves leaking) ca be "repaired" after dismantling machine ,extracting pump and taking it apart, success not garanteed - grinding valves is already time spending
so my principle before starting this work is to run the machine without the coffee pod to check the water output, use a new holder with clean central hole, if this works it will be nr.
3) the central hole of the holder is clogged, may be not by limestone, but dried coffee extract (grease) clean with needle or even better with micro-drill

Why does the power light keep blinking

The blinking light is wrongfully indicating that there is not enough water in the tank. The sensor is a small magnet that is floating in a compartment at the bottom of the water tank. (The black square in the corner) You shold be able to see it. Check if it is stuck at the bottom and if it is floating in its chamber. If that is OK, the sensor inside the coffee maker that is reading the magnet might either have come faulty or dispaced (due to a shock?). That would need a disasembly of the coffee maker.
