How to use rp55 in pedal board
The right pedal cycles the presets up, left pedal down. Push the both at the same time toggles bypass mode for clean tone.
You can also set custom tones by using the codes in the users manual. I have this pedal and programming it is a pain in the rear without the manual.

Sustain pedal randomly stops working
The first step would be to spray contact cleaner on the switch contacts inside the pedal. There will be some disassembly required to get to it.

Loud noise when volume pedal used
have it checked, might be a wiring problem. If you acquired it through a music retailer return it to them. If you did not a muso shop will probably be able to assist anyway. For assistance on this site yoy probably need to provide details such as make and model/revision number, if it has one.

How can I fix sustain pedal that occasionally stops working?
It may be that the switch contacts are dirty. You should blow it pout with compressed air, then speray contact cleaner into the switch. If that doesn't work, it may be a bad connection either where the cable attraches to the switch or at the joint of the cable and connector. Resolder all the above to be sure.

Do you run a compressor in the effects loop?
Yes. I run all my modulation pedals into the compressor, then into the MXR Ten Band EQ, then into the effects loop. But it also works in the front of the amp as well to tighten up your distortion. Try it both ways and find the sound you like best.

The most likely case is that one of the main output transistors (if which there are many) is shorted. When the protect circuit senses DC on the final output, it will not allow the output relay to come on to protect the speakers from raw DC. With the power removed, you can check between each outputs Emitter and Collector and you will probably find close to zero ohms. From that point you need to unsolder each of the pins of the bad channel until you find the shorted device(s) and replace them.
