It's still based on v1.5 and still uses the B&N ebookstore, but on the plus side the new firmware turned the Novel from an ereader into a tablet.With this firmware you can now install apps without having to hack the Novel. The outgoing server probably requires authentication (usually the same password as for the incoming server). Is your email client sending authentication? Look for a checkbox saying something like: "Outgoing server requires authentication." Also, I just want to make sure that you can't use "smtp.live.com-25-TLS as the address for your server. The server is smtp.live.com, the port is 25 and encryption is TLS.

Older scanners are not compatible with newer operating systems and if the manufacturer does not provide you with a driver you are SOL and have to buy a new scanner that will work with your OS. End of story.
