Take the motherboard out as it is on the underside of the motherboard.

The short answer is that the battery is bad. Replace it. Lion batteries cannot sit for more than 2 years without a "refresher" charge.

Open it up and look for the typical CR2032 3V battery located on the mother board. If it has one, then that's the CMOS backup battery.
