most sanders of this type come with a baseplate that punches the holes. If you received used you may be able to buy a plate but cheaper to just punch your own

There should be a knob on the front of the sander which adjusts the front roller on the sander. If the belt runs off in the same direction each time try turning the knob as the sander is running and while watching the belt. If turning the knob one direction does not work try turning the other direction. If turning the knob does not have any affect on the way the belt tracks on the sander then you probably have a broken or missing part on the front of the sander. This may require taking the sander to a service center.

Did you blow a fuse, or trip a circuit breaker? Often an overload like a stuck motor indicates there is a circuit being opened. If you know how to get inside, check the brushes, but I am inclined to suggest looking at a possible fuse blown in the power circuit, possibly in the power strip you use to plug in multiples.

look at the plunger if it is sticking below the frame use a flat blade screw driver and push it back up

It looks like the two posts are part of the base plate; look for two socket head cap screws at the top of the posts. These hold the compression springs on the posts. These are part 46 on the diagram. The listed size is DIN86-AM6x16-5.8". I hope this helps. However, I don't think this model is designed to have the base removed often. The housing may need to be separated to find the cap screws. My Cryobi drill started slowing down because the of the inadequate amount of grease in the gear box. It was stiff to turn. Stripping it down and replacing the grease fixed it but I bought a Dewalt instead before I took the Cryobi to pieces and fixed it. It is just a spare drill now for fixing screws only.

The "fresh" battery may not be so fresh. Check for a date code. Also, you may be inserting a fresh battery into a defective driver.
