You are sure the new batteries are OK? Measure the voltage

Install a VN recorder on VISTA

1. Make sure the device has been uninstalled in device manager
2. Make sure the old version of digital wave player is uninstalled.
{Delete Temp files in Internet Explorer --Tools--Internet Options --Delete Files-- Delete offline content--OK}
3. Install digital wave player (The newest Version).

4. Install the 2.1.4 vista update

5. Restart the computer.
6. Plug in the VN recorder to the USB port and turn the recorder on.
"Found new hardware" will appear,
7. install automatically.
This may fail, if you see VNUSB device, skip the final steps and proceed to Digital Wave Player to Download files from the Digital Voice Recorder.
If you will see "Other devices" listed in Device manager with "digital voice recorder" underneath it.
8. Right click on the "digital voice recorder"
9. Select update driver from the pop up menu.
10. Choose the browse computer Option
11. In the next window browse to the location that you downloaded the Digital Wave Player application to
12. Click Next
A security warning window will open,
13. Choose "install anyway" and the device will install.
When successfully installed you will see the "other devices" disappear and a VNUSB device with a "VN series device"
underneath it appear at the bottom of the device manager list. There will be a blue question mark next to the device. At this point you can close the device manager and the properties window and open Digital Wave Player. You will see the recorder listed underneath the recorder folder and be able to download and use the program normally now.

You should stop recording new ones to prevent the old ones from being overwritten. If your digital recorder has a memory card, take it out and insert it to your computer with a card reader. If the device has built-in memory, just connect it to your PC directly. On your computer, you need a video/audio recovery program. Fine one, install and run it. The software will help you scan lost audio files from your recorder, then it'll show you what it's found. Choose the files you want and hit the "Recover" button to start recovery process. I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I do not have my original Olympus disc. I downloaded the driver from driver guide (http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=583812) > installed driver (in this case pencam.exe. After installing the Olympus software I hooked the USB cable up, turned on my w-10 recorder and let Windows begin it's search.

I manually pointed it to the pencam folder where it proceeded to load the drivers successfully. I am now able to transfer my files successfully. Hope this helps in some way.

First open your computer and find the little quarter size battery take that out and then turn it back on . then after turn off and replace it back in and turn back on

How do u record for hours if need be and can you record for hours on HQ mode?

try to connect the recorder to the PC and with the Olympus DSS Player Version 7 change the folders name to default
