Your camera may be ok. Every and each camera has different reactions to a battery condition depending on the design of the circuit. Your battery may work ok on the other camera but this camera needs more juice (assuming the camera is working ok). If the camera demanding more power from the battery, try the rechargable batteries. Good evening, The lens of my camera Olympus 840 remains blocked in open mode, it does not close even device turned off. I can not take a picture or even view the pictures taken, no buttons is functional. Thank you in advance for your help.

Download Recovery Software in your Computer and then whether your download pics are stored in download browsers

Your battery may need to be replaced or recharged.

Go to nearest service centre . As your digital camera board has track open issue. The service centre can solve your issue.

Are you sure you are using it in a mode in which flash is available?

Hello Rjkustom, I have gotten terrible results using SUPER-Glue on UNKNOWN types of plastics... (No...!!). You would need to know PRECISELY what kind of plastic ... Even then the results or often less than CHARMING... This is someone you are trying to make feel better... I looked on the internet... eBay specifically and whole cameras can be purchased here (SF Bay area)... between $16 & $30 ... (US Dollars) 22results for olympus 1040 digital My best advice is to look for a "donor" camera (and make it like it never happened). Go onto eBay and see who... & how cheaply YOUR LOCAL Market area Olympus 1040 digits are going for... Side note... Here.. There seem to be a couple of colour options. The internal plastic gears which govern the lens opening and closing are either damaged or out of alignment - this happens when a camera is dropped or has any other form of physical interaction for which it is not designed.

There is no repair on this camera that you can do, you have 2 choices, send it back to Olympus for exchange unit (very costly) or just replace it.

One answer time for a new camera the cost to repair is about the same as new.

@blackcharger Great tip/advice. My issue was with the other connector (mini hdmi, I think). I was on holiday without any tools so ended up using a metal nail file to discover the shorting problem. Nail file and t-shirt cleaned the connector enough to get camera working. Have now folded a few layers of clingfilm / plastic wrap and added that as a bit of an extra seal to the door's own rubber seal. Thanks!

Perhaps you (accidentally) switched the card to lock? or pressed the write protect button for some pictures? Make sure the lock switch on the card is in the up position like on the picture:
