This memory card is known as an 'SM' type of card. Sadly this format is now obsolete and is not in general use like the now common 'SD' type. If you hunt around you can find a general purpose multicard reader that will take various different types of memory card. These are usually cheap to buy and more useful as it can read more than one card type. Something like the link below should do the job. That really sound like bad batteries. You could try the new Lithium batteries, however this camera takes a proprietary battery, a CR-V3 - 1,400mAh, 3 volt battery and it is Lithium Ion. I have an olympus 770 sw I used to have the same problem... the solution is after using your camera make sure the camera is dry and open the slot for the battery and clean it and do the same for the other slot somtimes youll get small debree in the cracks of your cameras cover for the battery slot thats were the water enters. I use a little bit of vaseline on the rubber pading for the battery cover to lube it out and had no problems sinse.

I have the same problem with my camera. Olympus tech says the lens needs to be replaced at $185+ and it's 18 months old with little use. Not happy, not worth it. Don't buy this camera.

There is an internal battery or super capacitor that is supposed to hold the settings in the camera for about 24 hours. It could be dead but it should recharge in a couple of days if you leave the big batteries installed. If it wont turn on after that, you will have to send it in for service.

With all digital cameras the maker delivers a CD (DVD) with software to install on your computer. This makes it possible to put the pictures from the camera on any computer. On the disk(s) are drivers for all operating systems that need them. (Windows 7 and up do have all drivers for hardware that is certified by Microsoft) And there are programs to download the pictures from the camera to the PC. Sometimes the manufactures also delivers software to organise the pictures in folders and software to view or even enhance the pictures you shot. When you lost the disk, most of the time you can get the software on the website for your brand. Sometimes you even get newer, updated software and new drivers if needed. If you can't get software form your brand, you always can install other generic software like Ulead, Pixir, BeFunkey, Gimp, Photoshop express. Or if that is not possible you could install an external memory card reader and download the pictures via de memory card reader.

Might need to stop by a camera repair shop and ask. Is it possible that your camera is dirty? It might need to be cleaned. Sand, dust, dirt can affect the buttons/controls.

It is possible that a flexible circuit connector has loosened. This can be checked by removing the covers, DISCHARGING THE CAPACITOR. (The large, black, cylinder beside the lens.) Remove the black Phillips screws holding the LCD and main circuit board and then carefully lifting the circuit and checking the large connector on the back of the main circuit. BE CAREFUL! It is easy to break the flex. The other, most likely cause is the failure of the Photo Interrupter in the lens. The only solution is to replace the lens and reprogram the camera.

Is the card you bought compatible with your camera? Older cameras cannot work with newer versions of memory cards. SD, SDHC,SDXC etc. have different form factors and old model cameras are not compatible with newer versions. If the problem is related to the card, you might like to re-format the card from a computer before inserting it in the camera and then format it again from the camera. Check and verify that before you try other solutions.

I had a similar issue with an Olympus OM4. It went in for repair but was never resolved. The batteries in my OM1-md last forever! I ended up doing the same remove the batteries after use.
