PROBLEM SENSOR PAPER DETECTION
There is a lever inside the shredder that is connected to a micro switch that detects the paper. Its usually located in the center of the opening where you insert the paper. This switch will make a very slight click if you turn the shredder off and insert a sheet of paper at the opening. If you can hear it click and it still doesn't work the motor could be defective.

Find assembly instructions for landon desk with hutch
Try calling 1 800 254 0315 (the company) and they should be able to email a PDF file of the instructions
office depot bought officemax so they now sell this realspace brand piece.
When you can't find the instructions anymore, sometimes tips can be found in reviews on amazon and in this case officedepot too.

Spl-mc180p shredder trouble shooting
Most jams are pretty much the same. First, try running the blades in REVERSE, that is done by using the on/off, selector switch.
If that does not solve the problem, Unplug the unit from the electrical, remove the top part from the basket. Pull out as much of the paper from the top and bottom that you can.
Replace the unit on the basket (make sure it is facing in the correct direction) and squirt, or lightly pour mineral oil (or machine oil, or something like WD-40) directly on the rollers and let it absorb into the remaining paper for a few minutes then try running the unit. If the motor does not come on, there is a fuse inside the machine that may need to be replaced.
Once you have solved the problem, you should oil the blades after every hour of use, it really makes it easier on the blades.
Also, there is an internal "heat switch" in the machine that will shut it down for about 90 minutes if the motor gets to hot. It is a safety factor in case you get something stuck, like a person wearing a tie, etc. After the machine has cooled down, turn the on/off switch to off and then back to on.

HOW TO DISASSEMBLE
My philosophy is:: everything that goes together, comes apart. Look for some screws or attach a photo of what you are talking about.
The "Bin Full Door Open" light won't go off
Have you tried completely unplugging it turning upside down and see if papers jammed there or a tiny staple. There should be a reset button on your shedder Usually very tiny. Mine was on top and to the right I had to use a small paper clip . also make sure your using lubricant on you machine. make sure that its sitting perfectly on its track or it won't run period That was my problem wasn't sitting on little hook inside Mine makes a sight click when engaged.. Hope this helps. Diane

My shredder stoped working
My shredder was under warranty--not officemax warranty--so I sent it back to the company that manufactured the shredder, at my expense. They sent me a new one at their expense. Had I added a few more dollars to the shipping for a new shredder. I never could get my to accept paper or lubricating sheet. Did not open the exchanged shredder until 2 days ago and so far it works, however the original one worked for about a week before stopping. I believe--should I have the need I will purchase a different brand.
I hope that helps.

Bin full door open
I found the nylon "bin full" flapper in the center of the head of the shredder is supposed to trip a microswitch indicating bin full. I removed the flapper and tapped on the switch. It came loose with a puff of paper dust. I replaced the flapper and it's back to good as new. Seems the dust built up around the switch and it was stuck.

What to do
Have an electrician install a 4-way light switch, that will reverse polarity on the two wires that power the motor, coming from the damaged computer board (that USE to swap polarity ) and have him mount it where it can be easily seen and reached. The drawing below is only to explain how the 4-way switch works.
As I am an Electrician, it was an easier and more cost effective solution, when my 4year old turned my shredder into a piggy bank, burning out the forward option within the computer board.
