What could cause norstar m7208 phone to not receive incoming calls
If you have lines appearing on your phone and they don't ring you need to program lines to ring. This type of programming is done from a M7310 phone. Page 323 of this manual shows how to program this on a NorthStar MICS Ver 6 phone system.
http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/TELECOM-F-R/Nortel%20MICS%20System%20Installer%20Guide%206.1.pdf
Enter the programming mode : Feature **266344
Password:266344
You will have 4 programming buttons on your phone, normally the 2 top left and 2 top right of the 2 vertical rows.
top left = move up one level
lower left = back
top right = select
lower right = next
once you enter the programming mode press next to "Terminals and Sets"
press select
enter your extension number
press select
press next to "Line Access"
press select
press next to "Line Assignment"
press select
use the next key to go to the line you want and use the soft-key below the display to change it from "Appear" to "Appear and Ring"
"Hook" button does not activate dial tone when the handset is lifted.
We've had several i2002 sets develop this issue and typically notice it when calls keep disconnecting. If the buttons use contacts similar to the T7316 sets, I suspect the silicon membrane, over time, becomes compressed under the switch hook since it's normally closed, unlike the normally open dial buttons (keep in mind that this switch doesn't cut power to all but the ringer like an that of an old analog set - it's just a sensor to detect the position of the handset). Eventually the membrane no longer flexes very much and the contact doesn't break, or is so close to making contact that it's very touchy.
If we didn't have a maintenance plan with our phone vendor, I'd be all for opening the phone and checking it out myself, except that would void the free replacement portion of our plan. For you, the worst that could happen is having to purchase another set, which is sort of where you're at now. I do not know if parts (the membrane or whatever makes up the switch hook on the 1120e) may be available on-line.
Sorry this was a long way to say that there's really nothing you can do from the outside of the case to fix it. Although, there could be something that broke loose or got inserted through a vent that is affecting the electrical contact of the switch mechanism.

1120e phones keep rebooting
The phone's configuration is likely corrupt and it will need to be reset to factory defaults and reprogrammed.
To stop the reboot cycle, try this:
- Connect the phone to POE (Power Over Ethernet) injector, but do not plug in a data cable into the injector.
- When the message "Cable Unplugged" appears on the screen, connect a data cable to the POE injector.
The phone should return to an online state.

How long is the name field on a Nortel 1220
Searching the documentation, this is not specified. It is long enough for a first and last name, so I would guess around 20 to 25.
Somebody with this unit could figure it out fairly fast, just by typing text and counting.
Hope this helps.

How do I program time?
Go into the programming mode and scroll down to Time and date. You can change it at that point .
Nortel 7208, locked out of mailbox. Forgot password. tried 120000; says "locked out" can't get in. It is work phone need to get messages. Please help.
To reset the password on the mail box you need to go to a M7310 phone on your system. It has 3 buttons under the display. You need to press the "Feature" button and 983, then enter the password 120000 (this one is used if you have 2 digit extensions 1020000 is used if you have 3 digit extensions) . Next in the display you will see mbox-AA-othr above the soft keys. Press the button below mbox. Next enter your extension number. After that you should see the screen to reset your password. This will reset the password to 0000. When you go back to your own extension and log in to your mailbox it will prompt you to change your password. If you password120000 or 1020000 doesn't work try 121111 or 1021111, the last 4 digits are the password for the admin mailbox.

Meridian M3820 - why is display not working
Try another 4 wire phone cord from the wall jack to the phone it is possible that you have a bad cord. These phones will only work with a Meridian System .2 wires are line ,the other 2 wires are power to the phone. If you have another phone try plugging it into the same wall jack to check the jack/line itself. Anything else would be a defective phone/ lcd ( note you can have dial tone without display, but the unit will only access one line.
What is do not disturb
Just what it sounds like, phone will not accept calls or pages.
Feature 85 to enable DND
Feature #85 to accept calls
NO DIAL TONE ON HANDSET
Check that the handset is plugged in correctly (some phones have a jack for a headset as well as handset.
Try another handset.
Try another handset cord (cords are a failure point).
Make sure the cradle switch is not stuck down.
