How do I reset my phone system? Nortel Norstar

It's simple. On Vmail it's Ftr 983 -> pswd -> 1 -> reinstall -> yes On MICS it's pull the power plug off and within 15 minutes -> Ftr** -> startup -> pswd To be sure follow the users manual instructions. You can get the pdf user manual here: Nortel Norstar pdf manual

Turn off the auto attendant for the Nortel Phone

To turn off the auto attendant: Press the program key. The display will indicate: PLEASE SELECT PNON ANSW OTHER Press the key under ANSW. The display will indicate: AUTO ATTND: ON BACK CHANGE NEXT Press the key under CHANGE. The display will indicate: AUTO ATTND:OFF BACK CHANGE NEXT That's it. Now press the program key to finish. I have Nortel Networks T7316 and cannot dial out.

Check your cables and make sure everything is plugged in! Also make sure your company doesn't have any restrictions for the number you're trying to call - it can happen sometimes. If everything fails try to consult the user manual.Nortel t7316 pdf manual

Need password

You have two choices:
  • if you have console access to the switch, and don't mind losing the config:
    • boot it with a console cable
    • Press CTRL-C when the diags start. It should then show a menu.
    • select the option to clear NVRAM.
    • Save and boot the agent
  • If you have SNMP access:
    • Download the config to a TFTP server
    • Edit the password in the config
    • Update the config via TFTP
