When charging DS lite the light stays orange
The issue is not with the fuses or with the battery. That end is working properly if the light stays a constant orange. The issue is with the other end, how the system powers on. Check the power slider (on mother board) or the L2 inductor (located below the slider). Chances are the tab on the slider has broken off or the L2 slider broke off from the motherboard.
DS charging..light stays orange...
It could mean that the Motherboard (Main Circuit) could be damaged or could be a fuse problem as you may have said. Although it actually might be the battery, there's one way to find out, if your friend has a DS Lite, ask them if you could borrow your battery for 2 seconds and put their battery in yours to see if it is the battery, if the same thing happens, its the Motherboard (Main Circuit)

How do you get rid of the white screen of death on a ds
What is the screen doing? Does it just flash for a second then turn off? Or does it stay like that until turned off?
It could be the screen itself or the ribbon connecting it to the motherboard. Open your DS and see if the ribbon is messed up in any way.
It could be the motherboard, too, which could mean you need to replace it.
If it flashes for a second then turns off, it means that the screen that didn't flash (be it top or bottom) is needing repair.
Taking cover off nintendo ds lite
Are you talking about the back cover or front cover?
Either way, before starting you are going to need two things: A tri-wing screwdriver and a Philips screwdriver.
To remove the BOTTOM COVER, you must take off the stickers covering the screws and remove the screws.
Then, carefully pry the back off, revealing the motherboard inside.
To remove the TOP COVER, you must take off the stickers covering the four screws in the corners of the INSIDE top screen. Unscrew them and gently push the inside top screen down until its about half a centimeter apart from it's backside. Then pull the backside off and you have it open.
If you wanted to open the DS completely, like have it in half, you should first open the BOTTOM COVER and remove the motherboard after disconnecting it from everything attached to it. Then follow the steps given for removing the TOP COVER and slide the ribbon and cables sticking through from the TOP to the BOTTOM back to the TOP so that they are not sticking through and won't be damaged when you take the DS apart. Then unscrew the power light and voila! The DS should be separated.
Nintendo ds lite l button doesnt work
Does it click when you press it or does it seem to be out of position? If so, that's an easy fit.To fix this you'd have to open up the DS and re position the button and the pin holding it in place.
If not that, its probably got something to do with the trigger inside the DS. When you press the shoulder buttons, they push into a button just below them on the motherboard, which sends a message to the DS. If that has fallen off or started malfunctioning in any way, it could definitely be causing this. You'd have to order one online (link provided to an example)
NINTENDO DS LITE BUTTON SWITCH REPAIR PARTS 4 NEW and then solder it in after desoldering the other one, if you know how to do that.
If not, there are probably some repair guys with an ad on your local Craigslist who'd be happy to do it for you for a quick buck.
