Put an OLD card it and GO to TOOL menu and then FORMAT the card. if it cannot Format try another card. If it fails more than a few times the camera 'may' have problems.

All I can say is FIRST is to fully charge the battery. If they are not rechargeable put fresh ones in.

Sounds like a dead battery OR an OLD battery that will not take a charge. I cannot answer that with information you gave me. Many of the Power Up Functions Briefly use lots of power. While it is Off, hook it to power adapter and make sure GREEN LED blinks When it Stops Blinking then Disconnect it and Try to turn it on. if it works once or twice the battery is bad and needs replacement. If it never works you may have issue with camera. What goes with old batteries is capacity. It dies quickly.

Search for LENS ERROR here. It is a COMMON problem.

The behavior you describe is a camera connected to a computer and it changes WHILE the computer sees the camera and it is ON (computer). When you shut down the Computer it will blink rapidly and it will not charge. if you charge with POWER ADAPTER. It will only BLINK while it charges. When it STOPS blinking it is FULLY charged.

1) Make sure it is fully charged.
2) make sure you have enough light and it can focus.

This question is way too open. 1000 things could be off.

Most cameras need power. many modes REQUIRE a Good Focus before it will take a photo.

You can Download a PDF manual from Nikon for FREE. Even if I have a paper manual I like the PDF because I can search it, and that can save LOTS of time.

Just putting in a memory card will not necessarily give your camera memory. Step 1 will all cards is a FORMAT FUNCTION when the card is first installed. It ALSO has to be a compatible card.

Nikon has done what many companies have done. Taken parts off their website. This means you cannot BUY anything but accessories. This forces you to send it to a Nikon Certified Service Center where they'll QUOTE the job before repairing it. If you send a camera in always ask about cleaning it too. (if it is old).

Nikon Cameras | Answered on Jun 02, 2018

Please turn off the camera BEFORE you plug it in. Most cameras start-up in connected mode when you do this. Please understand this may NOT help you. It is merely all I can offer.

Nikon Cameras | Answered on Jun 02, 2018

sadly we can not as we do not have any or their information on this repair forum

Memory cards can and do fail. Try formatting the card in a computer and then format it again in the camera. If this does not work, then the card has failed.

The new battery may be really dead (discharged). Please leave battery out for a while and then put it back in and plug in the power plug. (Do NOT push any button on the camera) Make sure the camera CAN CHARGE the battery first. Typically one Green LED lights up and another one flashes. If it does this then WAIT until the battery is fully charged.

There is an internal battery like a watch battery. That is the one that is dead.

Recharables as it will be cheaper since these are huge battery eaters NIkon is keeping the battery companies in business with you folks. BY all means find a diffrent brand you not the only ones with battery eaters!! Canon SLR, Pentax are the best battery savors in town. Quit feeding the energiser bunny and move on to better cameras is my recomendation and expert advice to you!

No you should alway store electronics that is not being used for a duration remove batteries
it you put the batteries in the freezer it also extends the life of the battery

Nikon COOLPIX... | Answered on May 16, 2018

exactly the same problem in Hong Kong. Live view isn't working. turn on-off, change battery, reset setting, format memory card wouldn't work or solve anything. just send it back to customer service centre.
