Did you try saving your choice of settings as user settings ? That way, they will serve as defaults for all subsequent scans.

Nonsense. Nikon's own site says their scanners don't support Windows7 and suggests using third party software.

I had the same problem. Go to nikon install the latest nikon scan and the security update for gdiplus.dll. It worked for me.

Have you changed computers -to say VISTA? Tell us more about your computer

I If you use nikon scan you get a different error warning Update nikon scan and also gdiplus.ddll update from thre nikon web site. It worked for me. 

turn on the screen and push record.. the red botten on the back.. but you have to use the screen.. you can not film by using veiw finder

try right clicking on the unit , click on properties, click on compatibility, tick box click on win xp, apply and ok next click on details , drivers , update drivers it will be a communication problem that has occurred in the programs between the scanner and the winxp operatibg system

If you mean that the power save time is very short. you can edit it at the properties of scanner. But if you mean that the camera stop like hang after scan the first picture it may be from USB Cable or you have more than one installed driver on your PC & there is a conflict between it.

I use the same scanner. I heard Nikon was working on compatibilty with windows 7. They done it for vista but 32bit only. I would recommmend using Silverfast software. They have the comp. drivers for 32 and 64 bit windows 7. But it comes with a someone hefty price. I just looked on there site and its $398.00. It is a good software but pricey.

If this is an elderly device there's a high likelihood that theres a hardware fault in the unit, did it ever scan properly? If it did and now malfunctions I'd look at connectivity issues so try this unit on another computer and try another USB cable, and with other USB ports.

According to the Nikon site the software for the Coolscan is not compatible for Mac OS Lion, you need to purchase silverfast to get it to work see http://www.scandig.com/filmscanner/nikon/nikon-coolscan-v-ed.html silverfast can be bought from http://www.silverfast.com/ you can download a demo from here to see if it works.

If you switch off the scanner you should then be able to remove the grey film holder, even though the film strip will still be inside. Then, press the small button above the film entry slit to open the front of the holder. Pull up the top cover, ease the bright metal holder strip forward then lift the metal flap that holds down the film strip. At this point you should be able to remove the film strip. Re=assemble and try again. Good luck.

Removing Memory Cards Before removing memory cards, turn the camera off and confirm that the power-on lamp and monitor are off. Open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover and press the card in to partially eject the card. The card can then be removed by hand. Do not attempt to remove the card at an angle.
