Nikon Coolpix S70 - picture

There may be a fault requiring service (probably not economically viable if they won't do it under warranty), but before you go there, does this camera have a "Macro" feature? This is usually represented by an icon that looks like a flower. If you have set that on, the camera goes into an extreme close-up mode and won't focus on items at normal distances.

I have a Nikon Coolpix

Check the manual for instructions on how to set it for the maximum number of megapixels and the best picture quality. If it has shake control, be sure you have it on. Set the camera to "auto" everything until you become more familiar with it.

Camera lens help required.

This issue is caused by fiedd of view angle and means that the lens is not compatible with the camera. You can set the F-stop higher and sometimes reduce that effect.

I have a nikon d7000

You can start with the online tutorial on Nikon's web site at
http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d7000/index.html

You might also visit your local library or bookstore and browse through the photography section. There are plenty of books on introductory photography, introductory DSLR photography, and other topics. The manual does a great job of explaining what each of the controls do, but doesn't do so great a job of explaining why you'd want to change these things. It's like the owner's manual for a car: you wouldn't want to learn how to drive just by reading it.

And most important: go out and take pictures! You're not paying for film and processing, so take a lot of pictures and look at them on your computer. Experiment, see what the different settings do.

How do I charge a nikon clock battery

The clock battery is internal and cannot be removed or replaced except by a technician. It is recharged by your regular rechargeable battery, so there is no separate charging procedure. If you find that your clock and other permanent settings are being list when you remove your regular battery for charging, then it's an issue with the internal battery and should go to repair.

How do i reset shutter count on nikon D610

You can't reset it. It is like your car's odometer. It is factory set to zero on new cameras and it cannot be reset by the user. This is to prevent unscrupulous sellers of used cameras from passing off worn out equipment as newer.

How do I delete pictures from my Nikon D3200 camera when importing pictures using Picasa

I do not use a program to transfer photos. I typically take the memory card out and access it directly, in some cases, with an adapter. I will always back up photos before I delete them. I then delete the photos off the memory card.

Why is the white background not white?

This is a common problem. The metering and light balance are the reasons that you are having problems achieving good results with your photos. All cameras on the auto cycle are calibrated for 18% gray. Another words a photo of all white results in 18% gray. A photo of black results in 18% gray. The camera adjusts the shutter speed and aperture to achieve an average light level of 18%. That is why photos of snow always appear gray. To compensate for this characteristic of the cameras an 18 % gray panel is held in front of the camera and than the settings are set.manually. The metering in the camera is now locked and using the same light levels objects will be in their natural level. A second problem is the white balance. Using flash avoids some of these problems. Adjusting the camera for source lighting type will help the most. The light balance is the cause of discoloration of the objects in the photo. Usually the camera white balance can be set for auto, incandescent, fluorescent, outdoor or flash, Use a manual setting if it is available on you camera, You need to adjust the settings until you get acceptable results. If the photo is dark add light by reducing the aperture number to a lower number allowing more light. After the aperture is open wide(lowest number) increase the exposure to longer time. With very low light levels a tripod may be necessary.. After doing this once record the numbers for next time.

Bakground of the photo is a bit blurry

this is, in most cases, a desired effect (bokeh) which is used to "detach" the subject from the background avoiding the viewer of the picture to be distracted by the background. This technique is widely used in portraits. This effect effect will be more pronounced when the lens is wide open (in your case it should be f/3.5 if I remember well...). To practice you may try the following: set you camera to "A" mode and take one picture of something (it should not be a landscape) using the smallest aperture after this take the same pic using the biggest aperture. With the lower f number you should get a blurry background and with the biggest the backgroud should be in focus!

Nikon SB-800 flash - needs to be reset ?? or repaired ??

Try reseting the flash itself, press and hold the "Mode" and "on/off" buttons together for 2 seconds approx...this should reset the whole flash.

If that doesn't work try unlocking it by pressing the "on/off" and "Sel" buttons together, the padlock should disappear.

With respect to the corroded contacts you just need to try and clean them as best you can...but it sounds like you have really bad contact with the battery and hence a serious voltage drop, hence the dim display and lack of the red ready light.

Thanks
Mark
