The only time I see WHITE BALANCE GREY is when your Picture Mode does not need it: When you are taking photos in B&W or monochrome or any mono color.

You have to know if the FOCUS is the issue or SHUTTER SPEED. In most cases with most CoolPix Cameras if the Image is not in focus (When you push shutter down HALFWAY) the Focus Rectangle will not be GREEN... If it RED it cannot focus. If every time you take a photo the focus area is red then it is not focusing. Small Coolpix cameras have difficulty focusing in low light. Low light can make a hand held image look blurry because of hand shake. If the light is so low it wants to take a long exposure. This works with a tripod, but not with a hand held photo. With most of these small cameras you can take 1 second night photos with a tripod. They would look horrible handheld.Typically on the Coolpix cameras you can set the FOCUS mode. It is usually shown with a FLOWER for MACRO... You get AF / FLOWER / MOUNTAIN / MANUAL (may not have this)Plase make sure your FOCUS MODE is in AF AF is the ONLY Mode where the camera will focus CLOSE and FAR... Light is not your problem..... It seems it is your FOCUS MODE.

This problem will need to be addressed by a skilled artificer, and will probably not be financially viable.

If you can read the SD card with your computer, copy (backup) all images on the card to your computer. Make sure you saved ALL images. Then put the card back in the camera and FORMAT it. It is in the TOOL MENU that looks like a WRENCH.

Go into the menu under format SD card in the playback option. Select Format card. All data will be erased from the SD

You will have to tell us what happens when you put a EN-EL23 battery inside the camera and you hook it up to the charger or USB. If the charger or USB is hooked up the Camera will Turn ON. The POWER LED will be GREEN. Another LED on the camera will FLASH GREEN. If this happens when you charge it you are halfway home. Change it until the flashing LED turns off. This means Battery is FULLY changed. Then REMOVE the USB or CHARGER and try to turn it on.

If the camera is plugged in via USB and the Camera POWER LED is on then the camera CAN be seen by the computer. You may have to tell the computer to SEARCH for new hardware.

There is a button to release the flash and that makes it pop up. I think in a full Auto (I do not use any camera this way) if it is too dark it should pop the flash up. If you can set the MODE to 'P' you control the flash... not the camera. The Little pop up button is in front on the Left side if you were holding it to take a photo.

The only time the camera puts images on INTERNAL memory is when you do not have a SD card in the camera. When I have an SD in my Coolpix camera and I want to get the images on my computer I take OUT the SD card and put it in the slot in my computer. The only way to access images ON the camera's internal memory is to have the Computer access the camera via USB. You should be able to see the camera when you plug it in via USB you can copy images from the camera. You can copy all of the images on the camera to a folder on your computer. If you can read the SD card on the computer you can copy the images from your computer (folder you made) to the PROPER FOLDER on the SD card. The proper folder is a XXXNIKON Named folder. (I am assuming you took at least one IMAGE with the SD card in the camera.

Replay will give a WARNING NO IMAGES. This is confusing. I can think of nothing to do. Turn it off off remove Batteries. Put batteries back in an CHARGE IT... Make sure it is FULLY CHARGED. Then Remove from charger and turn on and take a photo Does REPLAY WORK?

The Display is OLED and when it is off it is really OFF. FYI: This camera has FIVE (5) Brightness levels for the display. The Brightness is usually set in the TOOL (wrench) menu. If you are positive the batteries are good, fresh and or fully charged it is MY OPINION that the camera is non functional. The Viewfinder is critical for camera operation. Sorry I am not much help here it seems this camera needs either repair or replacement.

This camera does not have Manual Function. Your description sounds like the camera is OFF or needs to be RECHARGED. It seems dead to me - no power.

Have you checked your white balance and exposure settings? It is more than likely that the technician who repaired it for you changed them from your preferred settings.

I cannot go on much but it seems this camera has been dropped and the display is cracked or broken.

Is this a card that has worked before and now doesn't? Do other card(s) work in the unit? If a card is attempted to be installed backward, it can damage the internal connections and make the card slot inoperative. Also, there are restrictions on the type, size, and speed of cards that can be used (identified) within the device. Possible Solutions. 1. Charge the battery 2. If still not turning on, try using a little alcohol and wiping the battery terminal(s) on the battery and the battery terminals in the camera. Use a QTip and allow to completely dry before recharging the battery or inserting it into the camera. 2. Replace the battery with new one. 3. On/Off switch may be defective on camera. Charger may be defective. Wire connecting power from charger to wall socket may be improperly connected or loose.
