Try spraying electrical contact cleaner into the headphone socket. There are 4 spring loaded contacts in there. For your next one, buy a Bluetooth MP3 or a cellphone with Bluetooth. No mechanical connections.

I don't really know how Rhapsody works - do you have to download strait from the site to player, or do you save the files to your hard drive in between. If you have them as individual mp3 or wav files on your hard drive try using a different media player.

I did read in the installation guide for my ma566 that its not compatible with downloads "purchased from" itunes. Maybe its the same thing with Rhapsody?

Re: the xp vs win98 - on a phone call to Nextar tech support, I was told that if you have XP you don't need to use the driver disk but you might need to help the computer search online for updated drivers. I'm not sure if your saying your issue is that your COMPUTER is acutally 98 when it was "supposed to be" Xp, or if you are trying to use the 98 driver disk on xp and its not working.

Did your computer ever even recognize that the mp3 player existed? Or are you getting a specific error message?

How do you down load music from my laptop to my nextar digital MP3 player??

itunes (Not free,but legal)

Download itunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/)
Make an itunes account (itunes store)
insert mayment info
enjoy,download the music then drag it into "windows explorer"


Frostwire (free)

1)go to http://www.frostwire.com and download the latest version of frostwire....
2)install frostwire.....
3)launch frostwire,set up wizard (very easy!)
4)go to the music tab (insert song name)
5)A list will come up (click the song you wish to download
6)Once download, from the download box (drag downloaded song into the mp3 players folder!)
7)enjoy listening to great music!

Contact Nextar to inquire about the firmware.

Perhaps your audio book was from audible.com. They use their own audible format ( .aa instead of .mp3) and only certain mp3 players can play .aa files. If the book is in .aa format, go to www.audible.com and check to see whether or not your player is compatible with .aa files. If not, you're outta luck. durok

Downloading Music to MP3 Player

1...You must download and install Windows Media Player 11 on your computer.
NOTE...Some older MP3 players will not work with Windows Media Player 11 or Windows 7 with Windows Media Player 11.
If this happens to you, then you will have to uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and install Windows Media Player 10.
2...After you have downloaded and installed Media Player on your computer.
3...Open Media Player on your computer.
4...Install all your music into Media Player that you want to install on your MP3 player.
5...Plug in your MP3 player to the computer using your Data/Sync cord, be sure that Windows Media Player is on.
6...Media player should recognize the MP3 player and sync with it.
7...After it is sync'ed with the computer,you can add the music you have installed into Windows Media Player to your MP3 Player.

well the only thing i sugest you do is format it and let itunes reset your ipod back to factory settings

Back in the days there use to be a feature in cd player that allowed the user to preview the first few seconds of a track- sounds like your mp3 player has this feature- you need to look at the manual to turn it off- or provide a model number so we can help you locate a manual . good luck https://www.6ya.com/mrmmike

so long as you are not plugging in a headset(mic/phones) into it. those have different connections on them which dont line up and short out. yours needs a 3 connector plug ie standard TRS 3.5mm stereo.
