How To Configure FM114P or FR114P for an Internet Connection and Printer Sharing
There are three steps:
1. Configuring the router for Internet access
2. Installing and configuring the print server
3. Adding the printer to the Windows configuration
To Configure the Router for Internet Access
1. Connect the modem to the router's Internet port and your LAN computers to the router's LAN ports.
2. Shut down your LAN computers. (Power them off.)
3. Power off the router.
4. Power off the modem.
5. Power on the modem.
6. Power on the router.
7. Start the LAN computers.
8. Enter 192.168.0.1 in a Web browser's address.
9. Type username and password (by default admin and password).
10. Click Setup Wizard to configure the router's Internet access.
To Install and Configure the Print Server
1. Install the Printer Server Driver program on a computer.
2. After installation, make sure to select the Run Print Port Setup now box.
3. Click Finish. Print Port Setup runs, showing you the firewall and the printer.
4. Click Port 1.
5. Click Add. A pop-up message says whether a port was created, then the Add Printer wizard starts.
To Add a Printer With the Windows Add Printer Wizard
1. Continuing from the last section (or clicking Start > Settings > Printers > Add Printer), click Next.
2. Select Network Printer, and click Next.
3. Click Next again (leaving the port as LPT1).
4. Select the manufacturer and printer model of your printer. (If your printer does not appear, you need to get the CD or floppy that came with the printer, and use Have Disk to specify the file location. Note that it is looking for a file that ends with .inf.)
5. Click Next.
6. Change the printer name to something users on your LAN will recognize easily.
7. If prompted by the Add Printer Wizard about sharing: DO NOT enable sharing!
Now test the printer.
Other information about Windows configuration is available in Windows help in the article "To connect to a printer on a network".
Cannot connect to Internet.
The orange blinking light indicates that it cannot obtain the DNS server from your ISP (internet service provider). You must contact your ISP and check whether your service is active.
Router is blinking orange
There should be a reset button on the back on the router. Press and hold down on it, for about minute or so.
