The router is not connected to the internet via Virgin media. Your computer is connected only to the router wirelessly, that is why it says contact your internet supplier on how to connect the router successfully!

I have internet access when I plug in the ethernet

Hi there,
I know it is very frustrating if these things do not work. I am sure that the router is not setup properly that is why it is not working. It says connected because you have a good connection from pc to the router. But the connection from your Netgear router to the modem is not working. There is a possible IP conflict between your modem and router. I suggest changing the IP address of your netgear router to 10.10.10.1 . To do this click the link below:
ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/WNR2000_UM_24FEB09.pdf
Note: This is the manual for your router. Go to LAN TCP/IP Setup Parameters to change the router's IP address.

Desktop wireless internet connection ?

wireless mean you don't need a wire to get your computer and your router to connect. you may need to do a bit of setup on both router and computer to get both of them to communicate so you can go online. now your router is wireless but I don't know if you have a wireless network adapter on your computers which is what you need to get the pc's to talk (communicate) with you wireless router.

below are some instructions to follow and get your pc to communicate with the router, if you have not touched your router, it should be all set up out-of-the-box to work, altough it's always good to set up some security, for that check your router's reference and mode and go to router's manual

to setup your computer's you'll find all you need here

Wndr3400 blinking green power light

According to the owner manual, a blinking green power light on the WNDR3400 indicates corrupt firmware. You can supposedly use the restore CD that came with the router to attempt a firmware recovery.

I pulled the following from the owner manual regarding firmware recovery, which you can find online at ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/WNDR3400_SM_23MAR2010.pdf. Page 35 has this procedure

1. Make sure that your PC is connected to your router and the router is powered on.

2. Insert the Resource CD that came with your router into your PC. The CD automatically starts and detects the language you are using on your PC. Select a different language option, if you prefer. If the CD does not automatically start, browse the CD and double-click on .

3. Click Supporting Software, then Netgear Firmware Recovery Utility, and follow the prompts for the recovery process.

4. After firmware recovery is complete, follow the prompts to restore your configuration

Low connectivity internet needs Wi-Fi range extender

As the complexity of the network increases and the area become wide, the speed of the Wi-Fi setup will definitely decrease. When you are having a low connectivity internet connection, you definitely need a Wi-Fi range extender to boost up the signals. Moreover, detecting dead zones and remote areas in Wi-Fi setup become a tedious task. In such cases the devices to convert low connectivity in super-fast speed connection, devices are available. Instead of going for antennas which keep changing their frequencies, it is better to attach the extender for removing the issues related to low connectivity. One other way is to change the base device which is responsible for the Wi-Fi signal. But if the connectivity of the internet connection goes low only sometimes then this is not a very good solution. However, repositioning of the device can be a better solution. Take the device to a place in your network where the signal strength is maximum. You should avoid placing your device in an open area where there are chances that the device might get spoiled. If you have the doubt that the network is shared by your neighbors then change reset the connection and change the password. It is one of the common reasons for getting low speed. At last, to enjoy better internet services, maintain downloading at peak hours and restrict the number of devices under the tolerance power. Netgear WiFi Extender Setup Wizard

I changed to netgear router now outside cameras will not connect and inside cameras are showing still frames. Not showing actual movements. How do I get a better connection?

Hold down the reset button on the back of the router. This will delete the router name and password and return the router to factory settings. Reboot the router and enter a new name and password. Link the CCTV to the router using the fresh name and password.

Once reset the device will return to factory settings and won't attempt to connect to any wireless networks. You will need to follow the first time setup instructions.
