there should be a place to adjust the "feed dogs" on your machine. They should be able to be raised or lowered to give you proper to get the pressure of the pressure foot where you want it.

It could be possible there is thread, lint, other debris that has become wound into the machine's inner workings. Opening the machine and looking for things that don't belong and then carefully removing them may solve the problem. Also recommend refraining from running the machine's motor while the machine is locked to prevent damaging the motor. A better suggestion is taking your machine for service. It could very well benefit from a general overall checkup, cleaning, oiling, and adjustment.

Try the Necchi Yahoo Group. There are members who often sell parts and they also are very knowledgeable and helpful.. You should also try eBay. They have parts for lots of vintage machines. You may not find what you are looking for right away but look often as things show up everyday.

A mechanical machine? How long since it's been thoroughly cleaned and oiled? Sounds like the machine is seizing due to old oil that has dried.

It is likely that you need to open up the bobbin area and remove the parts to clean out all debris. The feed dogs should also be thoroughly cleaned. Try to remove the needle prior to doing this. When you have removed all of the parts from the bobbin area you will notice the hand wheel can now be rotated. Check all of this and make sure that the race is oiled with one drop of sewing machine oil. (small area that the bobbin case sits on - lower and looks like a car race area) Go ahead and blow out everything with canned air. Oil all moving areas with oil while it is open.

You should take it for service. It could be slightly out of time.

Yep, It is called bird nesting or thread nesting. The number one reason is that the top thread is not seated completely in the top tension disk.

Install a brand new needle.
Remove the top thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Confirm the thread path is correct.
Now recheck your machine stitching.

Remember if the thread issue shows under the fabric, it is a top thread problem. If the thread issue shows on top of the fabric, it is a bobbin problem.

If the top thread still shows on the underside of the fabric, you may need to tighten the top thread so it will pull the bobbin thread up.

This will help you determine which presser foot shank you need for your machine. Once you know which shank fits your machine, you can purchase extra presser feet most anywhere:
