You say that the problem occurs when you connect your secondary monitor up either solely, or as primary, but it also occurs when you have only the primary monitor connected Therefore I think the problem is inside your computer box not the monitor or cables. Hello, This is normally caused when the monitor does not support the screen resolution the computer is set to. Change the screen resolution and see if that helps. check first if sound driver is installed, by viewing device manager. to view device manager window. (windows 7 OS) click start and type run hit enter. on the small window that will pop up type "devmgmt.msc and enter. then check if there are yellow marks on the list. thanks

All it requires is to remove all the screws on the back of the monitor and it will open somewhat, there will be some power wires that may need to be removed but the plastic outer trim around the screen will need to be gently pryed off. You didn't say why you wanted to open it up but I will assume that it isn't powering up. If this is the case most times this will be caused by faulty diodes, I believe there are 6 and a couple of smaller ones. You can tell if they are bad if they are swelled on the end. I would recommend to replace all of them and use Japanese gold rated and should cost around $25 USD
