I own a navigon 2100 as well. Very nice device and you can install the 5100 software and the 7100 maps and points of interest. gpspassions.com is the best resource for 2100 help.

Try this:
Hard Reset Procedure - if the PNA is on, press the Power button until the unit goes off. Press again and hold the button down - the screen will come on and after a few seconds go off again. Press the Power button again and the screen will come back. If you get the opening "music", you know the Hard reset was successful.

If you leave the memory card out and keep the unit powered on, you will after a few 10's of seconds go into the Demo mode. When you reinsert the SD card a soft reset will occur (equivalent to pressing the recessed button on the left hand side) and the unit will initialize into whatever the SD card tells it to (see below). .

I own a GPS also and I dont know of a GPS that a consumer can buy that would cover that much area.So I researched it a bit for you to help you out. Click the link or copy in to your web browser. You will see that you need additional maps for the area of the US you are in. I would contact them first before you purchase any maps just to make sure your unit does work in the US. I own a Garmin GPS and usually they require you to charge it up first. Either by a USB cable that plugs in to your GPS unit and then into the computer. Or you can charge it by your cigarette lighter in your vehicle. Some companies even supply you with a charger. But I would suggest you charge it up for a couple hours then try and use it.

TO receive directions you have to first know where you are going. How about point of interest(POI). Also, try an intersection.

I have updated and started my Navigon 4310 max and suddenly it gave an error message saying "Startup error! Please check setup" then it stops. I tried many times by switching it on and off but it didn't help. Please help me what to do!!!

hi only solution for this is to download new map update the system and finally calibrate ,turn off completely ,turn on and reset this should work ok for you then

Depends were you are in the world.
You may have to send it back to navigon for repair.
Or alternatively look on ebay there are people who do repairs for a fixed price.

Hi Sandal39,

If your Navigon has stopped reading the memory card all of a sudden, it might be memory card can't be detected by the system. The best way to check if you have a bad memory card is to reset the Navigon. Please follow the steps below on how to reset the device.

1. Turn off the unit by pressing and holding down the power button for 10-15 seconds.

2. Now, remove the memory card then reinsert it again.

3. Turn the unit on and wait for it to boot up.

--> Please observe the system. If you still have the same problem, the Navigon memory card has gone bad. If system is still in warranty I recommend to contact the reseller or manufacturer for you to have a new memory card.

Hi

There is a possibility that the antenna is defective. Sometimes a factory reboot helps or re-burn of the firmware. One way to confirm an antenna problem is to go into the tools menu and select "about". If the screen says "GPS S/W = 0.0 (should be a real number like 2.9 or 3.0) then this indicates that your antenna is not communicating with the main board.

It sems that the firmware of the device is corrupted, for some reason. The solution lies in reinstalling it. Please visit the service center of the brand and get it done from the.

what brand name is it ? if it is Garmin then there should be a button on the back of it or bottom it is small just hold it for a few seconds then it should reset it all. hope it works

Activation cord is in the freshmaps activation card that comes with purchas of device.It is on the back of the card remove plastc with nail and you will get 15 digits number in 3block with 5 digits each.
