The Little Tikes Gearbox might be bad.
The motor came loose from the gearbox on my kids hummer, so the gears were not turning right.

It may be a shifter problem.

I would make sure that the wires are connected secure.
Maybe it is the switches. I know they have a problem over time when water or any normal wear and tear occurs.
The Little Tikes hummer switches are specific but I know this website carries some parts.

You have to pull the push nuts off the rear axles with a pair of pliers.
I would check to make sure the motors are connected secure to the gearboxes. Usually if you have a gearbox problem it also affects the forward speeds.

The charger will plug directly into the battery, but it must be a specific little tikes battery charger because the connectors are slightly different than other battery connections.
The battery is usually located under the hood in front. I try to charge my batteries up at least 18 hours.

Try to check the forward terminal connection high speed going to batterry, possible of loose connection.

I would take the motor controller out, remove the end cap without wire on it and smell the insides. If it smells burned, you need to take out the other 5 screws and see what smoked. In mine, I had corrosion and Q5 was missing 25% of the package. I cleaned the corrosion with a old tooth brush and 99.9% alcohol that I had. Replaced the part and all was fine. There is a trick to installing the bracket that holds Q5 and D11 to the case (a heatsink). I put the board and wires in the case and secured with 4 screws. I put the assembly in a vise with the side hole on the bottom. Align the bracket with the outside hole on top of Q5 and D11 (use a small wire that goes thru both holes) I took an x-acto blade- a flat one and slid it on top of the bracket that is now laying on top of Q5 and D11. By pulling up slightly you can put pressure on the bracket holding it in place. Insert the retaining screw and other end cap.

If you are using a 220 volt 4 hp floor sander, which is 95% of all floor sanders. you CANNOT use a generator less than a 25KV, which is about the size of a van. All Floor sanders draw over 80 amps at start up and during floor sanding all sanders run around 25 amps. If your motor is a Capactor style motor you can do detrimental damage to the motor. Many of my customers have done it in the past.

If the wiring harnesses are still in tact, they are all different and its just a matter of matching them up. I did it last night and worked fine. the only thing I wrote down was that the 2 wires which are not in a harness, they plug onto the switch. The one with two wires coming out of it goes on the prong at the end and the other with only one wire goes onto the middle prong. Hope this helps.
