When using the margin release DON'T HOLD IT DOWN just press and release. if this dosen/t work turn off the machine and see if the carrier will move both ways relatively freely if not look fot debris and spray a little WD40 on the silver shaft that it slides on.DickyO

That is usually caused by a cracked print hammer

While holding the code key down press the period key then release. If this does not work turn off typewriter. Insert a sheet of paper in the t/w in the wide position. Turn on t/w while holding down the MR and #1 key. The t/w will start printing on it own. Allow it to print out 7 lines and then turn the t/w off. That should reset the typewriter.

The key combination you're referring to probably switched your keyboard layout. For examply, I use Dvorak to type, but to switch over to regualar QWERTY, my family presses Alt+Shift. Note, that's because I have it set up that way. Your combination might be different. Try this: Control Panel --> Search "languages" --> Click "Change keyboards or other input methods" --> Click the button that says "Change keyboards" If you see anything other than plan "US" or "English" under "Installed Services", remove it.

Key board and or those key switches are bad or need to be cleaned

You have to reset the margins. by pushing and setting left and right margins. No just margin release.

Go to NADIST.COM, click on current models you should find a manual there.

margin release key allows you to type through the margin one time, you might need to reset the margin

go online search (typewriter repair shops) then look under your state and city

tab to the tab you want to remove and press the tab clear key

move the carrier with the space bar or the back space to the place you want the new margins and press the left margin key do the same for the right
