NAD C370 problem

I would suggest that the fuse in the amplifier has blown. This is usually caused by a bad amplifier component (duh!).

The unusual part of your problem is that sound is being passed. When a component dies, signal stops as the continuity is broken.

Which could also suggest the power supply. Transistors work like relays, you turn on the control signal and the transistor opens or closes. It isa possible that this control voltage is not being passed.

Either way, this will require shop work

Preamp/Processor missing menus/options for DTS

Solved the recognition of DTS signal issue but the DTS options/settings in the menus are still not appearing - believe the previous owner may have upgraded the software. The solution for the DTS signal recognition was an output setting on the DVD (blu-ray) player - digital output vs analog.

The DVD player does not recognize disks that it used to play before.

It sounds like the DVD region (a setting in both your OS and your DVD hardware) may have been changed. DVD regions are the agreed upon method (by entertainment companies, hardware manufacturers and governments) to limit cross-border sharing of media. Most valid (read: non-pirated) DVDs have a region code. Your DVD drive will only play DVDs with a region code that matches the DVD region code set on the DVD drive.

You didn't mention your OS but if you are running Windows XP then go to Start->Control Panel->System->System->Hardward->Device Manager and find your DVD player. Right-click the DVD player and select Properties from the menu and you should see a properties dialog-box with a DVD region tab. This is where you can change the DVD region that your player will recognize. Be careful, don't play around here, most DVD players have an embedded limit on the number of times (4-or-so) the DVD region can be changed.

Hope this helps.

Is there a fuse on the NAD 701---

Disconnect all the cables from the power supply Board and measure the output voltages. Connect the cables back one at a time powering down between each one and see what is dragging the power down.

I have a NAD T-753 receiver that is about 13 years old. It shuts down immediately after I turn it on. Replaced a blown fuse and tried hard reset, neither helps. Help?

Check the rectifier diodes in the power supply for shorts and look at all the filter capacitors in the power supply. Look for puffy discolored and domed tops. All filter capacitors must have flat tops. Check the windings of the transformer for darkened or burnt spots and test for shorts in both the primary and secondary windings
