Some of the Xbox 360s have been known to have issues with their DVD-ROM Drives, On Older Xbox 360s The actual Drive has been known to cause slight scratching and scuffing to your Games and Movies.

If your Xbox 360 is having problems reading games, their is potentially a problem with the DVD Drives Laser, i had this issue last year with mine, Out of the blue the DVD Drive stopped working and wouldnt read Certain discs. The i would suggest Calling Up the Xbox Customer support Center for your Country (numbers Available on www.xbox.com/support) and explain your problem to the person on the end of the line.

The only solution is usually to return your Xbox to microsoft Free of charge, which will be either repaired/replaced and sent back to you.

Also, once the solution is solved, it is important to NOT leave Games/DVD's In the Xbox's drive when not in use, Especially when moving the Xbox around as this can knock the laser and cause a fault ! their is only ever a DVD in my xbox drive when it is in use, i take mine out all the time to help prevent these sorts of problems.

For right now, i would say the 360 because it has the most games out, and even though you have been hearing about the three rings of death(which is under waranty for 2 more years) the PS3 is haveig a lot of disk drive trouble.

Depends on what's more important to you- gaming or watching Blu-Ray Movies.
XBOX 360 has the best games, better controller and a better online experience($50). However, it is slower, lower end hardware, annual fee of 40-50 for online play, no hd player (HD DVD is dead).
PS3 has one or two good games, small controller and has analog sticks in non-intuitive locations as opposed to the xbox controller. It does however, have higher end hardware(Games are seamless because of the higher end cell processor as well as better graphics card). You can also browse the internet on the PS3(it's really a computer)-u can connect a wireless keyboard and mouse and install Linux on it. Online access to games is free and comes with an awesome Blu Ray Player. The Black and silver finish is laso gorgeous.
So, if u;re more into gaming, go fo xbox 360, HD movies, go for PS 3. I have both and love the XBOX 360 just for it's awesome xbox only games(GOW, Halo, Etc).

Hi, Xbox 360 is almost like ps3, though they have different features, but their mechanism inside are the same.

You can differentiate them by the body beauty, and display.

Think about it and go for one.
For me i would prefer xbox cause of the shape and size.

Both consoles have advantages.
The Xbox 360 has a vast array of titles and has the biggest fan base of the two. If you connect the console to the internet, you can download games and movies through Xbox Live. You can also connect your PC to your Xbox 360 and use the console as a multimedia center using Windows Media Center.

The PS3 has a blu ray drive as standard, so you can watch blu ray movies through your PS3. DVD's are also upscaled up to 720p to improve the look of your movies. The PS3's online service is free, and allows you to download game demo's and downloadable content for games.
The Xbox 360's disadvantages are the fact you need to pay for access to Xbox Live, roughly £40 per year, but it does guarentee a reliable online service. Also earlier and cheaper models of the Xbox do not support full HD via HDMI.
The PS3 is very expensive and lacks quality titles. The console is also on a 10 year plan, so even though the console will outlast its rivals, it is likely to become outdated.
If you want to watch blu ray films and play games occasionally, go for the PS3. If you want a console with a lot of titles and a reliable online service,  get the 360. Of the two I'd choose the 360, but in 2 years or so I might need to reconsider.

1) Go right to the left when you already have youtube opened on your xbox & it will say activate your account or something along the lines of that. Select that.2) You will be told a code, Go to the site it tells you on your computer or laptop and it will ask you to login to your google account that is linked to your youtube account. When you have logged in to your google account linked to your youtube follow the next step. 3) It will next ask you for your code you was prompted with on your console. Just enter that code and hit continue. Your youtube account will now be linked to your xbox account and you will have full access to everything on the xbox version! I usually go to Google Search and type something like "Microsoft Flight Simulator X win xp activate crack torrent". Before you do this go to www.utorrent.com and get the standard windows installer not the web version. Now go back to Google results and pick a torrent site one at a time, as this is ******* and there are many torrent sites and find either a good direct download or torrent file/magnet for the game. Once uTorrent is installed, when you click the link, utorrent should start downloading it for you. Otherwise a direct .zip or .rar or .7z is even better. This sounds confusing but gets easier with practice. Sorry pain all over and battling to read and write. Good luck! peter

I notice no one properly read the question.
The user asking the question specifies that it still plays games.
It's not playing DVD therefore it's not a laser issue. I post this because I have the same problem - the same error (which states please reinsert memory device) comes up when attempting to PLAY DVD. however the Xbox will STILL PLAY GAMES.
the Xbox has never been connected to the Internet and still currently has no connection. Anyone have an actual solution?

How I worked around the "Open Tray" problem, where the game discs were not being recognized:

1. Open tray
2. Unplug power cable while tray is open
3. Plug in power cable
4. Power on console - tray closes
5. Open tray
6. Insert disc
7. Try your game

Good luck! Source: Someone else mentioned this in a forum somewhere, however I don't recall who it was or which forum. I'm just trying to get the word out so people don't send in their XBOX for repair, or open the case and void the warranty if this workaround resolves the problem.
