In this case you will need to ensure that the read attribute is cleared for each file you restored (right-click on the file and choose "Properties"). [Contributed by Aaron Kuhn] 7) If all is well, when you open Outlook Express now you will get all your restored messages. If you receive a message in your message body window "cannot display folder, you may be out of memory or disk space" after restoring, then it is likely you missed step 6. Go back and ensure your DBX files are NOT set to Read-Only.

Right, I've done a more extensive search on google for this and it turns out that you don't have to take your keyboard apart for this.
My I key wasn't working, so I found out that all you have to do is lift the keyboard up, turn it sideways and give it an almighty slap on the back.

Right mouseclick on the file. Chose Open File with Chose Microsoft office and say yes to be standard.

If you do not have the MS Office Discs, then you can download and install the Trail version of MS Office in your Computer from the following link:

You can click on "Try it Now" for "Office Professional 2010" to download the Trail version.

The Trail version once expired, you may have to buy a license from Microsoft to continue using MS Office.

The simple way to restore .pst files in outlook is

Choose File-> Import and Export…
Choose Export to a file
Choose Personal Folder File (.pst)
Select the Inbox and press Next (we do the Contacts folder later)
Set the file location to D:\My Documents\My Outlook\Backup\export.pst
Press Finish and you’ll be prompted to set properties for the export.pst file
In the Name field type a descriptive name like "Export June 2004" (yeah, I wrote this guide a long time ago but don’t worry; I still keep it up to date!)
Press OK to start the export
To export the Contacts folder as well repeat step 1 to 4 and this time select the Contacts folder
If the save location is not set to the path you’ve set in step 5 browse to it
Press Finish to export the Contact folder
Close Outlook and copy the exported file to your safe location as described in Backup pst-file
