If it is charging at a very high voltage, that means a very high current. Maybe, maybe not, you will have to run some tests. The first thing to do is watch the headlamp brightness, it should not get very much brighter, if you do not have access to a volt meter. If you do measure the battery voltage with the engine running, it should be no higher that 14.4 volts.

Possibly chassis ground, loose, corroded, otherwise failing.

There may be some residue from the oil change, or something was left loose . It needs to be looked at. Return to the service center and have them take a look.

The hood release is not affected by the battery. Under the dashboard on the driver's side there is a small pull lever that releases the main latch for the hood.
Open the car door wide and put your head in the foot well and look up. The lever will have a marker on it like the first attached picture.
When pulled the hood should 'pop' open. Move to the front of the car and look between the slots in the front grill. There should be a pull tag, (picture 2), to release the second latch.
When you re-close the hood push 'Both' sides of the hood down as it can flex and not lock properly.

Most of the time it is the sending unit in the fuel tank.Remove the connection from the fuel tank, and using a test light, test the wires that you removed from the fuel tank. Clip the alligator clip on the test light to a good known ground, and use the probe on the test light to touch the terminals in the connector you unplugged.Make sure the ignition key is turned to the on position, right before start position.Have someone to watch the gauge. At this point the gauge should be showing past the full position. When touching the right terminal in the connector you removed from the tank, the fuel gauge should move down toward the empty mark.If this fuel gauge doe do this when you are testing it,then the gauge in the dash is good and the sending unit is bad.

SUSPECT PERHAPS THERE IS AN OVERHEATING PROBLEM . IT LOOKS LIKE A TEMP GAUGE ON THE RIGHT SIDE

Mercedes-Benz... | Answered on Feb 23, 2019

I DON'T KNOW. IF AUTOMATIC, MOVE SHIFT SELECTOR TO ALL POSITIONS A FEW TIMES.
IT MIGHT BE POOR CONNECTION AT NETURAL SWITCH. IF NOT OK, MAKE SURE CONNECTIONS ARE CLEAN AND TIGHT AT BATTERY AND STARTER
STARTER MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED.
