Spring on recoil starter broke
Generic version of your starter is most likely available from small engine shop. Look for model and type of engine itself. Briggs stratton, honda, etc. model number if engine is usually on starter cover or stamped on block or tag attached. If the recoil part is riveted to housing you may need to either re-rivet or use screws to attach new rewind. Used parts are also available at small engine shops. Just take in the starter housing only for match-up. Good luck
Have new motor,how does shaft couple to generator
The shaft to engine has male tapered end and fits very tightly to armature of gen. Remove stator and remove center bolt thru armature. Place a piece of hardwood aganst metal part of armature and rap with hammer (one side then the other). Very carefull not to damage the windings or metal parts of the armature. If it does not come loose in short order apply penetration lubricant and wait for it to soak in. Good luck
