5Ab error code for a Maytag Electric Range
You may have inadvertently set your range to "Sabbath Mode". The display actually reads "SAB". This is a feature that allows the consumer to disable certain features of the range in order to honor the sabbath. You cannot defeat it by unplugging the range or turning off the breaker either. You will either have to wait 72 hours for the mode to clear, or figure out how to turn it off.
To turn the Sabbath Mode on/off on most Maytag models you simply press and hold the "Clock" button for 5 seconds. These instructions should be in your owner's manual.
If this does not correct the problem for you, please post back with your model number (located on the back of the range or around the oven door opening) so that I may be able to assist you better. I hope this helps you.
The 'up' temperature button doesn't work on my
I was able to fix my problem. Hopefully you have the same problem I had as it was only a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10 as far as difficulty to fix.
Short answer: Just pull out your oven and access the back side of the control panel and you should see the issue immediately. Should be free to fix.
Long Answer:
Get access to the back of your oven. Unscrew the two cover panels on back top of the oven. These panels give you access to the oven's control circuit board. Once the panels are removed you will see the circuit board which controls the oven. It is screwed down in a few places but the edges are merly 'snapped in' to a plastic mount. Over time pressing the 'up' button apparently was is much for the poor little plastic mount and the corner of the circuit board nearest the up button pops out. Push the card back into the mount and then reinforce the mount so the corner will not pop out again. I used a small round wood dowl that I just happened to find in the garage as a way to apply constant pressure against the mount. I put the dowl between the mount and the inside top of the oven. Not a very pretty fix but it works. Hopefully it doesn't get really hot back there. I pushed on the up button with the power on and confirmed everything was still working and then put everything back. Hope this helps. It was easy to fix.

Maytag Gemini Electric stove fault code F 1-2 when using the oven(s)
The oven temp sensor has gone bad. F1-2 would be for the lower oven and F1-1 would mean the upper oven. If you give me the model # from the sticker on the oven I can direct you to a diagram, part #, and price. These are very easy to replace. Should be located inside the oven in the upper right or left hand side. It looks like a silver rod about 4-8 inches long and crimped on the end. Most of them can be removed from inside the oven by removing the two screws, pull out the sensor (harness and all) plug in the new sensor, put the screws back in and your done. Some have to be removed from the back of the oven by removing the lower, larger back panel and follow the same process as mentioned above. Hope this helps.
What's the code H3 in 133 mean on a Maytag Gemini stove
Hello, have you tried to unplug the stove or turn off the breaker to the unit? Try off for 15 sec. then turn back on. If you have done this the you may need to replace the board for the stove, or may need to replace stove which ever is most cost effective. Hope this helps.
Plastic / maybe electrical smell
Personally, I do not cook indoors with gas (outdoor, yes), but any time you have an issue with gas cooking ranges....you need to call a professional. We are connected to Centerpoint Energy and so I would call them. this could be a very serious gas leak issue. You don't say if you are on a propane conversion type, or utility supplied gas. that smell could be your only clue to something not good. Did your smoke alarm or CO detector go off? You could call your local gas company to ask the questions, if there is a warranty for your range, call that store.
You don't say the age of the range. That comes into play as making suggestions. Please error on the side of safety. Get a professional to deal with this.
