What is the common cause of not starting of makita generator g5500r

My guess and the most common complaint on fixya - the gas was left in the engine from the last use and turned to gunk. Drain the old gas. Clean the carb. If it will run for a little after removing the air filter and putting a couple of quick squirts of starter fluid into the carb, it means the carb is gunked up and all the orifices need unstopping.

Makita instructions

Get the battery tested. The light draws a very small amount of power and will work if the battery is just about dead, but to operate the drill, you need a strong battery.

Generator starts with 1 pull and runs 5 seconds then shuts off. Carb is clean inside.

Must be something wrong with the governor or the links near the carb. Check the springs and linkages. These are usually at fault. If thereafter you still don't find something, must be the jets on the carb. One of it maybe a little dirty.

Makita G11oo portable generator. starts on choke. cuts off run

Just noticed your question... If you still need a little help:
1. If the gas is from last year, drain the tank and the carb bowl and replace gas with new. Visually inspect the inside of the tank ..be sure there's no sediment that needs to be cleaned out.
2. remove air cleaner and make sure it's not plugged or dirty
3. plug the spark plug and clean with spray carb cleaner.
4. At end of season, mix some gas stablizer in with the fuel to keep it from going bad while in storage.

Let me know how it goes..
