Solution 1 It might have defaulted your sound button to mute Got to control panel Sound and see if sound has been muted
Solution 2 unplug jack out of plug at rear of computer test it in other jack holes what might have happened is that the default setting for speaker and mic might have swapped round best way is play some music and move jack plug around see if you get any sound
Solution 3 Sometimes the sound software needs re setting bring it up and re sett speekers and mike setting by the colours you have you jack in remember front and rear you will be mainly dealing with rear jack interface green pink blue white etc

Considering your file is a media file you should go for digital media recovery software. I can suggest you few, must try Stellar Phoenix (http://www.stellarinfo.com/mac-photo-recovery.htm), Disk Drill (http://www.cleverfiles.com) and Wondershare (http://www.wondershare.com/data-recovery/)
Won't work.
You have to press the fn+f5 I think in your laptop. It is the same when you are using a projector.
When I turn monitor on, it stays on only 2 seconds, then goes dark. When I turn the monitor on, it lights for another two seconds, then goes dark. It is a MAG Innovision TCO 03 display. Thank you!
It could be two things. 1). The video card is set to a resolution the monitor does not support. 2). The monitor's power supply is bad. You can try to boot into rescue (or "safe") mode, and adjust the video card to a resolution the monitor supports. OR, power supplies usually go bad because capacitors bulge or otherwise go bad. Most monitor power supplies are hard to get, so people typically repair them. If you disassemble the monitor shell, you can see the power supply (where the AC cord goes). You can look at the metallic, cylindrical looking things with minus signs down one side, and if they look bulged on top, you can replace them. You can get replacements at mouser.com.
After resting problem getting screen back
It is possible that you have connected two cables from Monitor to CPU,We need to check if there's a cable that has blue connector (VGA) and another that is HDMI(may be black in color) or DVI (white connector). In case there are two cables that go from the monitor to the computer tower I would suggest you to removing one of the cables will resolve the issue.Feel free to revert for any further assistance
Remove back panel
Take 4 screws from bottom and slide ( silver ) front frame up to unlock ( bayonet ) style. to continue disassembly, remove 6 screws 3 left and 3 right to take off screen. Next is the cover for 2 boards 1-power board and 2-main board. You can now repair or replace both boards.
No sound from MAG 780
Dumb question, but do you have the audio cable hooked up from the monitor to an audio output on your computer, volume up, mute turned off.
Mag innovision monitor keeps turning off
It's not communicating with PC video card. It should pick up the input port, but make sure on monitor is set to correct input like VGA. You can try re-seating video card. Also test with VGA if you are using HD like HDMI.
