Are two fuses in line too many fuses?

The amount of fuses should make no difference BUT you can sure double check it by checking the voltage at the source ( battery) and also at the connector to the unit. Should be 0 difference in the voltage. If there IS, then there is something that is setting up resistance. Good Luck...

Where do i connect 5 wire data cable power cable

red and black are the + and - The other wires can connect up to an external NMEA device. If you are not going to connect an external device then just tape them up to get them out of the way

How do I insert a navtronics sim into an Elite- 5HDI ?

If you have an Elite 5x then it is not a combo unit If it is a combo them the small door about the power button with the model number on it swings open. A micro SD card goes in there. If your chart is an SD not a micro you will find the micro is in the end of the big car. Pull it out and pop it into the unit. hope this helps
