Pump keeps tripping gfi outlet

That means the GFCi is doing what it supposed to do...shutting off the circuit in the event of a fault. Repair or replace the pump. You can plug something else into the GFCI to test the outlet itself

Have a little giant 4-mdqx-sc that I bought used I plugged it up dry just to make sure it runs and it is making a horrible noise from the impellier not the motor will this go away when it is in line w

yes it should go away, this is a magnetic drive pump so it needs water to lubricate the porcelain shaft, it's not good on it to run it dry for long period of time just a short time, these pump eventually wear and will need to be replaced. they seem to last 2-5 years .. and back pressure is not good, so if say running a fountain bleed off excess water do not use a valve to restrict flow.. this is how we get the 5 years instead of the 2 ! .. jay the pump guy longwood fl

My sump pump doesn't shut off, I am assuming it

These units are normally factory sealed. You can buy a secondary float switch from a hardware store which intercepts the pumps power at the wall outlet and takes over the float switch duty. compare the costs as it may be more benificail to replace the pump

Heard a humming sound and

Hi bikkirk..
Look for a small crack in the housing of the pump, this would allow air to get into the pump and cause it not to pump, or maybe an 0 ring has a crack in it..
Put garden hose pressure on the discharge of the pump and let it run thru the pump to clear anything that you might have missed, then plug the discharge and check the housing of the pump to see if the crack can be found that way.

Hi vincent w wa...

Time to buy a new pump...there is no repair parts available for that sump pump sorry.
You could try replacing the faulty switch with a floating ball switch something like on the webpage below if you have room..just be sure to make a water proof seal on the wire connections.

The water is not pushing

Check the water intake and water filter. Be sure to clean the filter from dirt and stones. Sometimes the engine can be blocked and it needs mechanical help to get started. Sometimes the problem is a defective condenser and pump why not start because there is no phase shift (the capacitor creates a shift of 90 degrees in phase).

I have a visible wiring

Hi acaffey7701...
You can repair it if you want to.
It can be done by skinning back the wires, cutting the wires,(give yourself a few inches of wire )slipping over the wires some heat shrink tubing the correct size for the wire, then sliding it out of the way, solder the wires back together, put the heat shrink tubing back over the bare wires and heat with a heat gun till it shrink fits around the wires. Then take black plastic electrical tape and tape the wires back together till it is almost the same size as the uncut electrical cord. After you have the wrapping of the tape done then you will get a tube of silicone sealant and put some of the sealant on the taped surface you just finished taping. Spread the silicone sealant with your finger and put it on the taped wire heavy.Let it dry and your good to go.
Or Replace the unit.
