While I'm streaming movies from
I doubt very much that a change to an "N" router would help unless you are using the max bandwidth or have a low signal on the recieving end of the "G" router.
I have a windows home server that streams to 6 devices in the house. It used to be a "G" devicee and i never had issues except when large amounts of internet traffic were happening and then it was not sync issues like you have but small blocks of LAG.
Steaming media via wirelss is not really reccomended and a WIRED connection is much prefered.
your sysnc issues are more likely to be the computer or device that is feeding the media.
I suspect a probable CODEC issue especially if they are MKV files that have this type of problem irrespective of overall speed.
Your media extender may also pay a large part in the issue too.
I use an MVIX ULTIO and a PATRIOT BOX OFFICE as two of my media players without any problem
I did extensive research to find a cheap but suitable player and western digital and linksys were almost at the bottom of my list due to player issues with file formats.
Most of these devices are capable of firmware upgrades and i think you may be better looking at that aspect first off before spending money on a new router.
From there you may want to take a hard look at cable to the box.
Some of the larger players in the extender/player market use a short sighted approach with limited playlist for formats etc.
If it is only one type of file that causes the issue consider installing a simple media transcoder software at the source that would convert on the fly to a more suitable format
I have 2 extenders - both are doing this: when I
This problem has affected many Linksys DMA extender owners in the US and Australia since 4 November; European users are unaffected.
Cisco (owners of Linksys) took an update server offline which the Linksys tries to communicate with; when it can't reach it, it fails to startup correctly.
The solution is to block the Linksys from accessing the Internet, at least until Cisco get the server back online -- apparently they are working on this and it should be fixed soon.
There are a lot more details in this discussion thread on
The Green Button and I've also
written a blog entry with more details.
My dma2200 has stopped working, Will not connect
You aren't the only one with this new problem. No one knows for sure what is going on, but most think the extenders are phoning home to Cisco and Cisco isn't answering. You are going to need to change your router services to block HTTP for the extender's static IP address or change the DNS server for the extender to 0.0.0.0. You'll need to give the extender a static IP address in your router if you do the first solution. More information is here

This problem is affecting all US Linksys DMA units at present -- see
this Fixya discussion for more information.
It should be fixed soon by Cisco without further invervention on your part.
How can we watch netflix on our d link media
To the best of my knowledge Netflix will only work on the actual computer that it runs on and not an extender. The reason is that netflix uses internet streaming and Silverlight neither of which an extender can use.
The software on the computer will not complete the
Ok you must do a Format of the drive first, when XP Setup, comes up, go through until it asks you if you want to use same partition etc, go through until it asks you if you want to Format, Format Full NTFS, then simply install right until the end.
Resetting my TECHNIKA STB9007LE Freeview Receiver
Hi there
It appears that somebody at Technika thought it would be a wonderful wheeze to the box ask for a PIN when retuned. My daughter had the brainwave of putting in four zeros and voila!!!
Hope that solves your problem
My adapter is saying my wep passphase is to long
Yes; the pass phrase is only about 9 digits long. Go back to the router and setup the WEP security again. You are possibly trying the long version that sometimes is displayed, but that is not the one. Enter a pass phrase (this is used to generate the code), then hit the 'Generate' key, and the code will be listed.
No Tuner hardware !
The PC must have a cable tuner card installed and connected to be able to record and show TV.
The extender uses the PC for showing the (recorded) TV.
I have HP dv2000 and
what is the model name of your laptop? mine is dv2202ca.
find the model, located bottom of your laptop.
then go to
http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_lang=en&h_cc=us&cc=us&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&h_client=S-A-R163-1&h_pagetype=s-002&h_query=dv2000
and look for your model, then select your operating system and look for "Broadcom Wireless LAN- Drivers" to re-install your driver.
If after installation still does not work, click start, right click on "my computer" then click properties then click on the "hardware" tab and then click on device manager.
Then, look under "other drivers" and see if there is a question mark or exclamation besides any drivers. That means the driver is not functioning properly. Try repairing by right clicking on it. If not I would say re-installing the driver is your best option.
