Method One of Three: Perform a Hard Reset

1. 1 Turn off your computer.
2. 2 Unplug or turn off your DSL/cable modem.
3. 3 Locate, on the back of your Linksys router, the small button that reads Reset.
4. 4 Straighten a paper clip and insert the end into the opening for the Reset button. Turn on or plug in your router while you hold down the Reset button. Hold the button for 30 seconds.
5. 5 Wait for your Power, WLAN and Internet lights to activate.

EditMethod Two of Three: Perform a Soft Reset

1. 1 Open your browser and type "192.168.1.1/" into the address bar. This address is the default IP address for your Linksys router.
2. 2 Type your username and password into the fields.If you haven't changed them from their original settings, the default username and password are "admin" and "admin".
3. 3 Click on the Administration tab. Select Factory Defaults and click "Yes" beside Restore Factory Defaults.
4. 4 Click on Save Settings. Turn off your router for 10 seconds and then turn it back on to reset it.[2]

that information should have been given to you by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) and has nothing to do with your router.

Try a factory reset and re-con figure it. That works on a lot of devices but I am not familiar with your unit.

Perform a full reset of the router. With the power plugged in, press the reset button for 30 seconds; keep the reset button pressed and pull the power plug out for 30 seconds; keep the reset button pressed and plug the power back in. The unit will reset to the factory settings. User the software and instructions that came with your router, or download them from the Linksys website, and log onto the router and use the setup program to finish the setup.

I recommend you consult the router manual. If you don't have it, you can d/load it from linksys. For most routers setting up wireless is not too hard, and it's a question of putting the right values in the router set up - which you enter by putting in the right ip address and then the right username and password. Again, get this information from the linksys website. Good luck.

You could try to connect to your router with a CAT5e network cable. Then open your browser and open the webpage http://192.168.1.1 When prompted for your username and password, try password 'admin' (without quote marks) and leave username empty. If that doesn't work, reset your router and configure all the options over again (make sure you have all required information for the settings). There should be a button on the bottom of the router labeled 'reset' push it in and the router will reset to factory settings. ( dhcp is usually enabled by default) the lights for network activity should blink for a few seconds as the router gets a new ip from the network. you should then be able to go to 192.168.1.1 and access the router. some motorola routers use an address in the 10.x.x.x range

verify it is trying to connect to correct SSID - verify p/w entered correctly - verify MAC address is allowed in router. chk to see if router is seeing chromecast asking for access.

Unplug the power cable from it for 15 seconds and plug it back in. That's what I do instead of just turning it off, and it works for me in any case.

Mary Kay, The best thing to do is unplug it from the back, count to 30 seconds, and plug it in. This is called a power cycle (aka a rebooting), and should hopefully fix the situation. You'll want to wait at least 15-20 seconds or so until the router fully starts up before attempting to connect to it again. Linksys Support - bookmark that page when you have a chance! Easiest thing to do, Change the password to your router. Once this is done, it will prevent your neighbor from any further access to your router and of course prevent internet access. Most all routers are simply a local web address for access. Example: 192.168.1.1 typed inside a browser address pane will take you inside the router. Check your router for setup procedures.
